larrymarketfishing Posted November 25, 2021 Posted November 25, 2021 Hi all and Happy Thanksgiving! Curious for anyone that has the Dobyns Fury 795SB for swimbaits and glidebaits: can it also double as a muskie rod? I wanna get one mostly for throwing swims and glides less than 4oz, but I wanna get into Muskie fishing up here in Minnesota next year and curious if it's stout enough to throw some muskie lures. Thanks, everyone! Quote
Smalls Posted November 26, 2021 Posted November 26, 2021 It'll work I a pinch, but it's far from ideal. Definitely underpowered for musky. Conversely, musky rods are a terrible choice for bass swimbait fishing 2 Quote
Super User WRB Posted November 26, 2021 Super User Posted November 26, 2021 The 806 SB would be a better choice. Tom 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 26, 2021 Global Moderator Posted November 26, 2021 It would be a decent rod for most bucktails. Going to be underpowered for much else though. 1 Quote
larrymarketfishing Posted November 26, 2021 Author Posted November 26, 2021 Thanks guys! I’ll go with the Fury 806. Same price anyway so I might as well. Appreciate the advice! 1 Quote
