Super User Mobasser Posted November 24, 2021 Super User Posted November 24, 2021 They say that turkey will make people sleepy. Most Thanksgivings, this seems to be the case. Most guys end up in a chair after dinner and become unconcious. They don't do this on purpose, it's just one of those things that happens to us, especially as we get older. At any rate, I hope all members here on BR have a good Thanksgiving. 8 1 Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted November 24, 2021 Super User Posted November 24, 2021 It’s more all of the fat from the gravy, dressing, buttered rolls the other greasy stuff than just the bird. That is why I request guajolote a mole poblano instead of the traditional. However, the chef says we are having 6 boy curry instead. Quote
Super User Log Catcher Posted November 25, 2021 Super User Posted November 25, 2021 Happy Thanksgiving to you to. I retired from our local school system doing maintenance work for them. One day I was in a school when they had their Thanksgiving turkey dinner. That afternoon I was talking to one of the custodians there. He commented on how quiet the building was that afternoon. He said he wished they would have turkey everyday for lunch. 1 Quote

Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted November 25, 2021 Global Moderator Posted November 25, 2021 Is there something wrong with being sleepy? If so then I don’t want to be right………. I’d gladly participate again this year 1 Quote
Super User Tennessee Boy Posted November 25, 2021 Super User Posted November 25, 2021 I look forward to eating a big Thanksgiving meal then settling into my recliner, turning on a football game, and sleeping through the whole thing. ? 3 2 Quote

That’s what is all about from my understanding I don’t necessarily think it’s the turkey (triptophan or whatever it is) because I feel sleepy nearly every time I gorge on any food, not just turkey. The turkey just so happens to be associated with the most gluttonous day of the year 1 Quote
Skunkmaster-k Posted November 25, 2021 Posted November 25, 2021 No turkey for me this year. Me and Dad smoked a big ol brisket today. I’ll still glut out and fall asleep on the couch like Al Bundy , most likely. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 25, 2021 Global Moderator Posted November 25, 2021 I find that being sedentary for any length of time makes me sleepy, regardless of what I've eaten recently. I'm fine as long as I keep moving, as soon as I sit down on the couch though. 3 Quote
