Right now I'm in the market for a budget spinning rod. I'm hoping to take advantage of the black Friday sales. I can't decide between a 7 foot medium and a medium light but I plan to use it mainly for throwing drop shots and smaller swimbaits like keitechs. I think I'm leaning towards the medium light. I'm looking at the Dobyns Fury series, Dobyns Colt series, and Daiwa Aird x series. I have a dobyns fury casting rid and I really like it but I'm not sure how good the spinning rods are. Does anybody know how the Colt compares to the fury? What kind of recommendations would you guys have?

I'd get a Fury before a Colt. I'd even take an Aird-X over a Colt after 'shop testing' the Colts and having Aird-X rods.

I have a Fury 702SF that's my general finesse rod...drop shots, shakey, etc...and I'm very pleased with it.

Thanks for the info! What reel/line did you pair your fury with? Are the Aird-X rods balanced/lightweight compared to other rods you've owned?

I've got a President-25 on the Fury 702...but I'd skip that now as a redesign for the 2020 model downgraded the quality. A decent Diawa or Shimano in the same price category would work fine.

I've got backing of 6# Sufix Pro-Mix mono under 60yds of 10# Sufix 832 Hi-Vis with 8'-10' of 6# Seaguar InvizX as the leader

Balance is good, weight is a bit more than some, sensitivity is better than other rods in it's price-group. If you can swing the Fury...get it...it's much better than the Aird-X and once the TW sale opens to everyone, it'll be only $103.

If you’re truly sticking to budget rods check out the 13 fishing defy black rods $59.99 retail price. I handled them in store and they feel very nice.

Daiwa Aird X (54.99)

Shimano Convergence (59.99)

Fenwick Eagle (59.99-69.99)

Lots of solid options in this price range which I didn't mention. Don't think you can go wrong.
