Eric 26 Posted November 22, 2021 Posted November 22, 2021 Good evening all, I’m thinking of purchasing a spool of fluorocarbon for next season and it got me thinking about comments on using line conditioner. I’m not in the market to purchase Seaguar Tatsu so please don’t recommend that, my question is does using line conditioner effect the abrasion resistance therefore negating the whole reason to use fluorocarbon in the first place. I apologize if this topic has been covered as my search came up empty. Quote
mrpao Posted November 22, 2021 Posted November 22, 2021 I've never known line conditioner to decrease nor increase line abrasion. I always use it with my fluoro. I like the KVD conditioner. It makes a big difference in the memory of the line. 1 1 Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted November 22, 2021 Super User Posted November 22, 2021 I dunno about the others, but I've not noticed any reduction in abrasion resistance with KVD. I use it on mono, FC and my Yo-Zuri hybrid...it's da bomb. 1 Quote
Eric 26 Posted November 22, 2021 Author Posted November 22, 2021 I didn’t think it would cause any issues, more of curiosity thing than anything? With that said I’m pretty sure I want to try Suffix advance as I’m fond of the monofilament but curious as to what everyone else’s budget/cheaper recommendations are. Pretty sure you’re happy with seaguar red label MN Fisher. Lastly I’m thinking spinning rod no more than 8 lb for Ned/light crank baits. Quote

I got a spool of 15# Tatsu as a gift from a generous member here and if I had the budget, I'd go all Tatsu. Price-vs-performance - I'm an InvizX guy for both spinning and casting. Far as Sufix Advance - I tried a spool of 10# Advance Mono...I think I'm going back to YZH. 1 Quote
Super User Solution WRB Posted November 22, 2021 Super User Solution Posted November 22, 2021 FC line conditioners add a coating that allows water to wet the line to reduce memory and help keep the line spring off the reel spool during the cast. Tom 2 Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted November 22, 2021 Super User Posted November 22, 2021 Line conditioner just helps reduce memory. I've never noticed it affecting abrasion resistance. As for a line, I would suggest looking at Daiwa J-Fluoro Samurai, which you can pick up a spool for around $25 on ebay right now. I used it on several reels this past year with no issues and I have Invizx, Tatsu and Shooter on other reels and I think it handles the best of the lot. I cannot comment on longevity other than no problems yet. 1 Quote
Jaderose Posted November 22, 2021 Posted November 22, 2021 I was VERY skeptical about Line conditioners until I actually tried KVD. It works. I use it on Mono, fluoro, and even new braid. Also makes a great dessert topping! 1 Quote

Super User FishTank Posted November 23, 2021 Super User Posted November 23, 2021 I use line conditioner on some of the thicker FC I have but never noticed it affecting abrasion resistance. Just a thought though, the KVD stuff is $12 retail and cheaper FC is around $15. So at least $27, why not invest in better line and is it really necessary for the line you are using? My choice would be Invizx and forgo the conditioner. 1 Quote
