This guy is ridiculous. He did so well for about 1.5 miles then flipped his lid and I carried him for a ways haha. I probably should have left him out there but I’m a softy (and he would have smelled his way back……) 1 Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted November 18, 2021 Global Moderator Posted November 18, 2021 When I was a kid I used to love the sound of a couple beagles on the trail of a rabbit echoing through the spruce woods and even better the change of their howl when they saw the rabbit. 1 Quote

Ours is an expert at the sound!!! He can’t see much with his nose in the ground though 1 Quote
flatcreek Posted November 19, 2021 Posted November 19, 2021 I’ve run and kept Beagle hounds for most of my life and loved the experience. Currently hanging out with my 12 year old Abbey who is an outstanding hunter and companion.some people say they can’t hunt and be pets too.i call complete bs on that! She goes bass fishing with me and kisses the fish for me so I don’t have to.great dogs 1 Quote

My wife dragged him down to the rock quarry while I wish fishing the other day. He isn’t too thrilled about fish but our big dog is, she has nearly swallowed a few whole. Then again she’s 83 lbs and will eat anything given the chance Quote
flatcreek Posted November 19, 2021 Posted November 19, 2021 Yeah he looks like beagle and basset and that makes for a really fine scent hound.looks like a fine dog.enjoy the good times brother 1 Quote
Solution cheezyridr Posted November 22, 2021 Solution Posted November 22, 2021 no one will ever convince me that there is a breed of dog more affectionate and loyal than beagles are. years ago, i caught some virus and was sick for a few days. one of those days, my little mix laid with me for 14 hours. the only time she got out of bed was to follow me to the bathroom and wait outside the door. she didn't eat, and would not go outside to pee until she just couldn't hold it anymore. cheezyridr Posted November 22, 2021 Posted November 22, 2021 oh i should mention, for those that haven't had beagles before: they're great at climbing trees, but terrible at getting down. catching a 35 lb dog that jumps into your arms from 15' up (or more) is not nearly as much fun as one might guess 1 2 Quote

Mine is the laziest dog on earth but whenever he takes a notion, he’s wide open full throttle. Like when we couldn’t find him one day but could hear muffled barking and found him way up under my shed and had to drag him out 1 1 Quote
