Super User Bankbeater Posted November 17, 2021 Super User Posted November 17, 2021 Chartreuse pumpkin plastic worm. The first time I used one I was sure it was going to scare the bass, but it works in clear water. Quote

BigAngus752 Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 Another vote for coppertreuse. It's a weird (and I assume made up) name from Z-Man. Normally NOTHING bright colored works in any of the lakes I fish but this color is an absolute hammer. I've tried numerous other colors of the ElaZtech with little result but the coppertruese on a Ned or T-rig is a skunk-buster. 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted November 18, 2021 Super User Posted November 18, 2021 Back in the 80’s I had a custom hand pour made that was supposed to be light green weenie with a purple blood line. Pick up the worm and Bryan said this is the ugliest worm he ever poured. I looked it and “what f*** is this?? The worm was pea soup solid green, not translucent, with wine red blood line. Bryan apologized and handed my the 100 bag and said he would make over. I tossed the bag of ugly worms in my boat and forgot about them. About a year later I was fishing in the rain and found the ugly worms and gave them a try, nothing else was working. I was fish Deep Cat ledge and on my 1st cast hook a 5 lb Rainbow trout on the ugly worm. The hour the bite turned on and several bass between 7 lbs to 9 lbs. there was a tin boat anchored with a man and his son fishing crawdads and hadn’t had bite for hours. The yield over asking what was ai using. So I moved over to the tin boat and offered him some ugly worms and got ticked thinking I was joking with him and turned my offer down. I caught bass on that ugly at several lakes. when I ran out Bryan wouldn’t make them for me, too ugly no one else will buy them and didn’t remember what colors he used to make it up. Tom 3 Quote
crypt Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 years ago, 20 or so---there was a worm color called Critter that was poured by a local fisherman out of Kissimee that was clear but had 3 colors of glitter in it. was an awesome bait for a while. then he just quit making them. he had 7 and 8 inch curly tails. man I miss them. 1 Quote
PaulVE64 Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 Morning dawn. I caught a fish while rigging up another rod. Quote
CrashVector Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 Green pumpkin magic. I had never had much luck on lures with glitter/metallic flakes in it. People here swear by the watermelon green with red flakes, and I've never done well on it. However, green pumpkin magic colored senkos/stickbaits have done well for me. Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted November 19, 2021 Super User Posted November 19, 2021 Kalin's Ron's Craw. This color catches a lot of fish in clear and stained water. Very versatile color that I wish was also available in other bait styles. Motor oil red also catches em in both water types, which was a surprise in clear water but not as much as the above color. Super User JustJames Posted November 19, 2021 Super User Posted November 19, 2021 Zman The deal or Yamamoto Shad color, is really surprised me here but not in a good way. I used to catch plenty of fish elsewhere with this color, but here doesn’t seem to work quite as well. Quote

When our Lew’s store closed I bought out their entire stock of Elaztech worms. There were about a dozen watermelon candy packs that I found when I was sorting them. I wondered if anything would bite them. They do. Quote

For me its been a mudbug color z man trd. I picked up a pack as an experiment and when I got them I was a little unimpressed. Its basically a dark cinnamon brown back with a light cinnamon pearl belly with copper flake...kinda blah looking honestly. But thankfully the fish don't agree and they chomp it. What about you? The same plastic but in White Lightning Caught me a personal best LMB and several 5-10lbs blue catfish Quote
Yakalong Posted November 20, 2021 Posted November 20, 2021 Seems like when I order something online I'm usually a few dollars away from free shipping. So I will buy a color that I normally wouldn't buy. Lime green and white worm has worked well. Quote

a1712 Posted November 21, 2021 Posted November 21, 2021 Yum Sugar Plum. Was looking for a alternative clear water color stickbait and found the Yum 4" Dinger in Sugar Plum at my local Ollie's. We wore them out on it all summer. Brian. 1 Quote
Super User king fisher Posted November 21, 2021 Super User Posted November 21, 2021 I don't have any surprise colors I caught bass on, but I do have one I didn't catch with. When I was fourteen, I a read an article where Bill Dance said he fished any color of worm as long as it was blue. Because Bill Dance was my favorite fisherman, and I believed what ever was printed in a magazine has to be 100% true( Like the internet now), I used what little money I had and bought some blue worms. After having zero luck with blue for half a summer I decided two things. 1. He must of meant to say purple, and 2. Rolan Martin was my favorite bass pro. 3 Quote
Super User WRB Posted November 21, 2021 Super User Posted November 21, 2021 Tom Mann’s BlueBerry 7” Jelly worms was a go to worm for me in the 70’s. Bill Dance was promoting Strike King Diamond Back 6” worms and Blue was his favorite color during that era. Fishing the Mexican lake Guerrero in the late 60’s Strembridge 9” Flip Tail Red worms was the hot color. Couldn’t catch a cold on the red locally. Tom 1 Quote

Everyone had a hardy laugh until he tied em on. My all time favorite Cinnamon Pepper Neon Junebug Laminate...Camouflage Fire & Ice is my answer, too. A buddy of mine told me he'd been catching good sized bass in the canal behind his house and invited me to come fish it, and gave me a pack of 7.5" Culprits in that color as his "magic bait." I laughed to myself about how absolutely goofy they looked. And laughed, and laughed....until I caught a 6lb 6oz bass the first time out with it. I still think it looks goofy, and "magic bait" is a hokey belief, but dang if that color didn't surprise me. Thinking on it, though, it really shouldn't be a surprise; red works, blue works, why wouldn't red and blue be effective? 2 Quote

I have one of those as well: Zoom Castic Choice. It is GP over pumpkinseed and when I saw it I thought now here is a winner. Nope, caught like 3 bass on that color. I could catch them on both solid pumpkinseed or GP but switch to Castic choice and nothing. Finally just gave away or melted down the baits I had in that color. Allen Quote
Super User Log Catcher Posted November 22, 2021 Super User Posted November 22, 2021 I also have one that surprised me the wrong way. Plum. I heard some many things about how good this color is supposed to be I had to try it. I bought a pack of Mag II worms in that color. I caught one bass on that color. When there were only two left in the pack I threw them away. Watermelon Red is another color people love that doesn't work for me. Quote
