I’ve been walking to banks and driving from spot to spot the last few weeks at some wonderful eastern Oklahoma lakes and it has been my most rewarding few days of fishing I’ve had in my life. I have been out 5 times this week and have had marginal success a few of those days but the other three days have been incredible and very informative. I’ve landed my biggest smallmouth and biggest largemouth ever. Both big fish were caught on jerkbaits and the largemouth actually bent several of the crappy stock hooks on the old style RC STX she decided to eat, I was working my jerkbait through a maze of flooded timber. When I hooked this fish I was immediately overwhelmed, I knew that if it was a bass that it was without a doubt the fish of a lifetime and sure enough it was. All I could think about during the fight was the 10lb mono, my 6’6 medium action lightning rod, and horrendous light wire stock hooks have to guide the biggest bass I’ve ever felt in my life out of a literal flooded forrest. I definitely put too much pressure on the fish and bent some of the hooks but it was the only way to keep the fish out of a giant tree if heading to as quick as it could. When I first got the fish in my hands it almost felt like I was in a dream for a second or two, it’s hard to explain but it was a truly incredible and rewarding experience. Anyway I’m rambling but I’m just thankful for bassresource, I don’t post much here but I literally read here every day without fail and you guys without a doubt have helped me become a better angler. Even the bait I caught the smallmouth on came from AJ.

Too bad the LMB pic doesn’t show the whole fish as that looks like a real decent bass. The smallmouth ain’t bad, either! Congrats!

I have a video of it that really shows the size but the video is too big to post here unfortunately. I really need to get a scale and tape measure to keep in my fishing backpack, really bummer I didn’t get to see exactly how big it was but I can tell you it made a 5lber feel small.

Great catches. I'm always trying to convince myself that enjoying the bite and racking up numbers brings me the most enjoyment since I'm by myself and not impressing anyone. But then along comes a big one and my perception totally changes (at least for a while). Here's to many more bigguns for you.

Definitely looks like it would dwarf a 5 pounder, looks huge! You could make a Youtube channel and upload videos there, and keep it private if you wanted to so only friends could see them.

That's why I started one, videos were too big to send to the friend I fished with so started a channel.

Awesome catch!

Congrats!!!!

Caught a SM yesterday that missed  tying my PB by one once. 3 lb 9 oz It would be considered small on this site but I know how you felt! Hooked and addicted! Can't wait to go again.

That LM looks like an absolute Hoss!

I think you can break that soon! Especially if you make it upstream a dam or two

I can't make it upstream any farther than Nickajack dam. It is already over an hour away. Send some of your extra hosses downriver!

There’s smallies over 4 below chickamauga dam if you can take the truck a little further. You don’t get many but getting one big one happens pretty regular. If you make it to watts bar dam it’s on like donkey kong
