I did a search here and saw a couple posts where it was mentioned, but no opinions on it.

Since it comes in so many no-fade colors, and in an 8 strand PE braid, I've got three spools sitting in my cart lol!

Anyone have any opinions on this stuff before I hit the buy button?

you want it for bass fishing?

the reason I am asking is because usually people for shark fishing using them in 3000 yards spools coz they are cheaper. I personally went with diamond braid.

Couple days ago Tom mentioned this one and swears by it.

https://www.finsfishing.com

he said he using original and didn't loose color after 30 years.

Yes..bass fishing.

My main bass combo gets 15lb, but I want to rig two SilverMax combos with 12lb, and two other spinning combos with 8lb and 10lb.

I use the colors to remember which is which since most of my rigs are identical to each other.

12lb braid on a baitcaster is nothing but trouble.i hope you're talking spinning or line diameter.

I've been using braid since the 90s. Sorry if I don't believe that.

I don't know what to tell you, I use the suffix Pro mix 15 on my Revo s combo and have for some time.  I haven't had any issues at all with line dig.

Using something like 50 or 65 lb braid for bass negates one of the major benefits of braided line anyhow, so you might as well use 20lb monofilament...at least it would be less visible.

Never understood why people will use super heavy braids, when the main benefit of braid is that it's thin per lb/test. Besides, you get snagged, and you're either cutting off a lot of line, or running the risk of breaking a rod while trying to straighten a hook.

You get snagged you wrap the line around a 1 inch wood dowel and get you lure back.I dont believe bass care about line visibility. 50 lb braid is far more sensitive than any mono and casts better. I haven't tried pro mix.

Look at it the other way; the main benefit of braid is that it's high test per diameter. As far as dig-in or backlash (the cause of one could be different from the other) I don't use any braid on a baitcaster less than .011" diameter. I tried it, and I saw what happened. I saw other people try it, and I saw what happened to them. If it somehow doesn't happen to you, you're very lucky.        jj

I use the x8 for salt water applications where I want to spool alot of line on a reel for cheap. Also been using 10lb for chucking at chain pickeral in my creek next to the house.

Its good line and im comfortable recommending it. Dont have a single thing bad to say about it. Its also really cheap with a ton of color options. Just pay attention to diameter.

I've no reason to be deceptive.  I've gotten two backlashes in the last month or so...both because I dialed back my spool tension too far.

I quit using braid years ago because of line dig.  It got annoying and mono was just easier.

I can honestly say I haven't had any line dig issues with the 15lb pro mix.  Maybe it's my setup...maybe it's luck...or maybe the roundness of the line helps.

The color options are what I like.

Yes, I'm "that guy".  Fishing to ME is much more than just catching fish.

It's also enjoying my equipment, the setup, and putting the thought into it.  I also like "matching" stuff....so....I know it serves no tangible purpose, but it gives me intangible pleasure.

Bringing this thread back because I just bought a spool of 30lb Non-Fade x8 Hercules in black to match the Daiwa Zillion TW HD I picked up. Going to use it for light salt duty AND frogging. Before I put the line on the reel, any reason by the collective brain trust here to *not* use this combo?

I would have gone at least 50 lb for frogging

I use 20lb Hercules 8-strand in black for frogging.  Never had an issue.  No line breaks, etc and I've caught a lot of fish with it.

The 30lb hercules breaks at like 39 or 40lb, so it should be good to go considering the fact that I throw my 20lb through brush piles, lilly pads, sticks, etc and haven't had one issue horsing a fish out yet.

In fact, I liked the hercules braid so much, that it's on all of my reels now except three...two of which are panfish combos and the other is for catfishing.  Literally everything else has hercules on it.

Nope.  I think you'll be a Hercules braid fan after you use it though lol

I bought a spool of 30# Hercules to try on my chatterbait rods. So far so good. Angry Fish is another cheap braid I've had good luck with for moving baits. For bottom contact I stick with 832 for it's outstanding abrasion resistance.
