IMO the difference in length is close enough to 7', unless you preferred under 7' I'm really curios about this Diablo Spec-R, I keep hearing great thing about it. The only reason that I chose the Tour Versatile is the MH action, the lake I fish most of the time is very weedy and I need something stronger to get those baits out of it. Also at 7' seems like a good compromise, not to long not to short. On 11/12/2021 at 7:07 PM, Matt Hoo said: I also prefer rod the are 7’ or less. I kayak fish and bank fish. For kayak fishing I stand a lot to work the baits like a frog, spook, jerkbait or really anything else that needs action applied to it. I’m 5’8” on a tall day so when im working the bait a rod longer the 7’ tends to hit the water when I work the bait where it’s comfortable for me to do it. On the bank I try to work in and around the trees so a long rod it also problematic. The longest rod I have is a Dobyns Champion 736. I don’t know quite yet if it’s going to work well enough for me. I know that lots of people want long rods for stuff, but I think that watching and listening to Seth Feider talk about his successes with shorter rods and why he switched make good sense to me This is an issue for me, my kayak is stable enough to stand up and fish, but I'm not. I still need some practice and want to keep it as safe as posible. Now I'm a really good swimmer and use my PFD all the time but still. But I think this is part of the cool things about kayak fishing is that you have to learn technics you already dominated in new ways. Quote

I'm pretty new at it since the lake I used to fish was all hard surface and grass, no hydrilla or milfoil or any of that. Quote

There are usually three rods I use for a T-Rig, but #1 maybe up to 80% the time. #1) Most situations including some cover I will use my Daiwa Tatula Elite 7' M-MH/XF/ #2) If the weeds start to get a bit thicker I may use my 6'10" MH/F Daiwa Tatula which has a little more backbone to it or my 7'5" Daiwa Steez MH-H/F if I am not using it for something else. #3) Punching: My Daiwa Tatula 7'6" flipping stick. I too don't have a lot of opportunities for punching, and even sometimes when I'm on the same lake I opt to throw a frog and target other weedlines instead. Quote
