I've been wanting one of these for little while now, and think I may pull the trigger. It'd definitely be the most money I've spent on one bait, so I'm a tad apprehensive.

Just curious if anybody has experience with them? And if you prefer the 2-piece or the 3-piece.

Appreciate it!

I know big rats work, and people catch monster bass with them, but they haven't worked for me.

I bought a Spro Rat last year thinking it would be killer in the morning on the big bass I sometimes catch with top water.  I have fished it every time I went out, and haven't caught a bass bigger than the rat.  I have caught some nice fish waking a Manns 1 minus that cost $5.  If I were you, I would try some less expensive wake baits on your water to see if that presentation is what the bass want, before buying an expensive rat, but if the Monkey is on your back, you don't have a choice, just go buy one, don't let him make you buy two.

I've had decent success on wake baits over the years. Definitely had more success on other topwater presentations, but then again I throw them a ton more than wake baits.

I'll admit I am a tackle junky, so that's probably part of the reason I want a PB Rat. I realize there's other baits that'll catch more fish than a large rat, but I just love catching bass on bigger baits. I also like the fact that they're made of resin. Should last a long time. And lets be honest, they just flat-out look cool with the color swirled in with the resin.

I definitely can only get one tho. Leaning towards the 2 piece but was hoping to get others' opinion on them.

I'm trying to convince myself that a Slammer is close enough that I don't need a rat too. I've got 4 Slammers in different colors, that should cover it right?

Rats tend to work best at dusk.

Funny you mention that, because an MS Slammer has been on my list for a while now as well. What size do you use?

Mine are all the 7". I've had a couple 9" and a mini but the 7s have been by far my most productive.

The PB Rat is a 2.3 to 2.5 oz lure that requires a MH swimbait rod and reel with a minimum of 150  yards of 20 lb / .016D line

I prefer the grey or brown colors in rats.

2 or 3 piece is a choice only you can make. The 3 piece will swim straighter then the 2 that swims slower.

This has been the case for me. The handful of bites I’ve had on rats came right before the lights went out. It’s a fun bite though.

I got one this year (3 piece). It's got a pretty straightforward swim to for a 3 piece, doesn't crank down much, but it has a very unqiue sound. It's LOUD. The resin it's made of as it clacks together just makes a heck of a commotion and it sounds different from all my other swimbaits. The color swirl thing means you don't have to worry about the "paint" getting rashed. IMO it's a bit pricey for what it is but it is definitely unique. I got my Northeast PB this summer on it fishing over some shallow milfoil. I don't think they're the most versatile bait/rat given the commotion they put off, but that's what it does best. I don't think you'd be disappointed getting one but there are definitely a lot of rats out there to choose from.

The hook up tackle just restocked and you can get 15% off right now with their Veterans Day sale (code USA). It's a great rat.

I clicked on the link you gave.  This company has gone too far, they are completely in bed with the bait monkey.  They offer credit for their tackle.  You can buy their rats on time, for four easy payments.   I have a hard enough time keeping out of the poor house with my tackle buying without some company offering payment plans for their tackle.  Is this legal? I would request you not link this type of porn on a post again lol.
