Great, thanks.

First question is regarding the collar choice: Is there an advantage to a wire collar over a band collar? I'm assuming perhaps it's more durable? (But then again I don't want to make assumptions so will wait for an answer.)

I think I'm going to go for a selection of the Shakin Blade in 3 colors: A white with a bloody shad skirt, a black blue with a blue craw skirt, and a green pumpkin with a bluegill (or maybe bream) skirt. I'm wondering what I should choose for the blade color for each? I'm leaning toward silver for the white, black for the black blue, and gold for the green pumpkin. But I'm curious if those colored blades are fished in more specialty applications and perhaps most people use silver for all 3 of the combos? (I literally have no idea and have never fished chatterbaits before.) I'm hoping to stick to 3 color configurations and get a few of each, so maybe 9 baits in all. Probably all 3/8 ounce for now as a start.

Would love to hear thoughts on if those 3 color selections are a good place to start, and also any thoughts on the blade colors for each. I generally fish clear to slightly/moderately stained water up here in New Hampshire.

Wire tied skirts will outlast the hook, usually. It also gives a unique flair to the skirt, especially round rubber. In fact I think it's crucial to the "slow bloom" presentation that rubber is so well liked for.

Wire tie is best for durability.  The skirt is permanently tied on.  Here is how I would chose for the Shakin blades you have listed.

White- bloody shad.  Stainless blade

Green pumpkin- blue craw skirt  Black nickel

GP- bluegill gold blade

Just so I'm sure it's not a typo, you would use a green pumpkin head instead of a black blue head for the bait with the blue craw skirt and black nickel blade?

"Blue Craw" skirt has quite a bit of green pumpkin or green pumpkin with a blue shimmer.  IMO black or dark blades is better for chatterbaits all around, but you could go for something with flash if you want.  Just my 2 cents

Thanks all - I ended up ordering 2 each of 4 color schemes all in 3/8 ounce. Also grabbed a tungsten bullet weight variety pack and some swimbaits to bring me up to the free shipping threshold.

White head, bloody shad skirt, stainless blade

Green pumpkin head, blue craw skirt, black nickel blade

Green pumpkin head, bluegill skirt, gold blade

Black blue head, black blue skirt, black nickel blade
