CrashVector Posted November 4, 2021 Posted November 4, 2021 Just a month ago here in South Louisiana, we had high temps in the mid 90's with heat index temps of 105F+. We have FINALLY settled into the more fall pattern of highs in the mid-70s to low 80s with roughly weekly cool fronts! This weather just makes my blood burn to get out on the kayak...but it'll be January before my arm is healed enough for that. Still ..I'm ACHING to put a pile of fish in the livewell!! 2 Quote

FishinBuck07 Posted November 4, 2021 Posted November 4, 2021 28 this morning when I got in the truck! Couple more times out on the boat and will have to put her away and cry for a few months! haha 2 Quote
Super User T-Billy Posted November 4, 2021 Super User Posted November 4, 2021 It was 29 when I hit the water yesterday morning high of 49. Water temp has dropped 14 degrees in two weeks. It's down to 52. Bite was TOUGH. Six dink LM and a 38" musky. Weird bite, I missed another 5 LM pitching shallow brush. Short bite window in the afternoon. Started at 8am put the first fish in the boat a little after 3pm. Had several followers on a spinnerbait but couldn't get'm to eat it. I left the ned rod at home to force myself to fish for biguns all day. By mid morning I was wishing I'd brought the ned rod. ? 4 Quote

Three Army bass, all shallow and all within 25-or-so feet of shore. If I live to be 100, I'll never understand why bass in cold water act the way they do. Weird. ? jj 1 Quote
Super User gim Posted November 4, 2021 Super User Posted November 4, 2021 Hard frost here too. But 60 degrees this weekend for deer opener. Not favorable Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted November 4, 2021 Global Moderator Posted November 4, 2021 I rode in my buddy’s bass boat last night about 60 mph, quite brisk. I had to make sure my face was still accounted for when we stopped Quote
Sphynx Posted November 4, 2021 Posted November 4, 2021 The bite has been awful for a bank beater the last few weeks here too, might be time to get off the main river and switch it up to fishing on the smaller (read: Wading possible) creeks/rivers on my time off instead, it's probably not a terrible time of the year to target a steelhead or two either, even if the bass are being less than cooperative. CrashVector Posted November 4, 2021 Author Posted November 4, 2021 I don't know how things work up north, but this time of year in S LA, the Ned rig owns. 1 hour ago, jimmyjoe said: Same here. Weird. ? jj I should have tried a squarebill. I thought about it, but the musky like to steal them from me on this lake. I saw quite a few bass cruising milfoil stubble in 2-4 feet of water. Couldn't interest them. That's where I really missed the ned rod. That little TRD Bug on a 1/8 jighead is far and away the best bait I've ever used to get those spooky critters to bite. I throw it out in front of them a ways and when they get within 6' or so I'll move it just enough to get them to see it. Often they'll swim over and pick it up. Wacky senko is #2 for this, but it's a distant second. That little bug is a powerfull tool, especially in cold water. Yesterday was the only trip it wasn't on the deck for the past two seasons, and it'll be the last time I make that mistake. It's saved a lot of skunkings since I started fishing it. Quote

It's surpassed Piedmont as my favorite lake, and it's 20 min from me. Only saw three other boats all day yesterday. They were all trolling for musky. Congrats on the new boat. I got the green light to buy one after we find a house. No small feat in this market. Quote

Leesville has always been one of my favorite lakes. Beautiful scenery and the fishing usually isn't too bad either. Thanks and good luck on the house, hope it is easier for you than others I have talked to. 1 Quote
Super User king fisher Posted November 5, 2021 Super User Posted November 5, 2021 My favorite lake had a high of 82 degrees, and a low of 56 today. It will be within a few degrees of that same temp from now until next July. Buzz baits and frogs all winter. Down side is I miss out on the good ice fishing bite. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted November 5, 2021 Super User Posted November 5, 2021 Last two nights the weather has gotten down in the upper 20's here. Weekend is suppose to warm back up into the 60's. Looks like I will be fishing the deep ponds this weekend. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 5, 2021 Global Moderator Posted November 5, 2021 Barely in the 40's today while I was on the water, it was lonely out there too. Thankfully I found some good company. 2 Quote

I spook bass off the bank mid winter sometimes. Quote

I had hand surgery done in july and missed out on a month of the shorter season we have up here. I actually put off shoulder surgery until next week because of the lengthy recovery time hang in there. The holidays pass quickly and you’ll be on the water before you know it. one question; What kind of livewell does your yak have? Quote
