zpelletier Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 On my Curado 150 MGL, I opened it up to adjust the brakes for the first time and one of the little wings looks different from the others. Is this something wrong or am I just noticing something that isn’t a problem? Quote
Super User JustJames Posted October 31, 2021 Super User Posted October 31, 2021 It is just not perfect. It’s not gonna affect the performance, since the part that act as brake is on the opposite site. Quote
Super User WRB Posted October 31, 2021 Super User Posted October 31, 2021 You need 3 brakes on at most. Suggest pushing in the damaged brake and every other brake 3 on 3 off. Tom 1 Quote

Super User WRB Posted October 31, 2021 Super User Posted October 31, 2021 It’s a defect, send the photo to TW if they will replace the reel. Tom 1 Quote
mrpao Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 Just call shimano. They'll probably send you out another one if you need. I would just disengage that certain one. Usually I only use two brakes most of the time any way. 3 Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted October 31, 2021 Super User Posted October 31, 2021 That is Shimano CAC, it compensates for guides being off to one side, I'm waiting for the digital version... Quote
Phil77 Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 I'd return or see if shimano will send a new spool. Might not be a problem now but could turn into one. 2 Quote
Super User JustJames Posted October 31, 2021 Super User Posted October 31, 2021 Wow really? Im the only one seeing nothing wrong with this? Yes the brake block is in imperfect shape but I wouldn’t call defect. The portion that is in contact with brass drum is on the opposite side. As long as that block can clip into its place as off position, there is nothing wrong with it. You can see sign (dirty) of portion that in contact, nothing to do where OP point out. 1 Quote

Eric 26 Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 If it were me I would call Shimano. You paid for a perfect reel I’m assuming not a factory blemished model, regardless of it affecting performance. 3 Quote
Aaron_H Posted November 1, 2021 Posted November 1, 2021 I would just disengage that one (and two-three others). Having all 6 engaged would be crazy overbraked IMO. 1 Quote

I mean if OP wanna go through on the trouble of getting warranty, shipping and also wait time for good working reel for just imperfection of tiny part, by all mean it his choice. If he can just walk into local store and exchange for a new reel might be different story. Quote
Eric 26 Posted November 1, 2021 Posted November 1, 2021 Correct me if I’m wrong but if Shimano were to send a new brake can’t op just replace it himself? I know my Piscifun came with extra brakes. Maybe someone with more knowledge can weigh in. Quote
mrpao Posted November 1, 2021 Posted November 1, 2021 ^^^^That's what I was referring to in my first post. Shimano will gladly send out a complementary brake or two to remedy this issue. They have send me out parts before. If the OP is not happy with the looks of the brake, I'm pretty sure shimano will make it right. 1 Quote

bigspirit Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 Definitely not going to affect the performance. Now, I’m always normally the one on the side of “I didn’t pay this much for a blemished product”…but I’d hardly call that in particular a blemish and would deem it “not worth the time”, just my opinion. But you are totally in your right to contact shimano and make it right if you so choose Quote

They said I could send them the reel and they would look at it, with about 3 week turn around. Quote
