That doesn't mean to gut out a job where you're miserable, but sometimes you have to cope with some crud at the office. If you still enjoy coding, neural networks and AI are where both the fun and money are these days. Honestly, at this point it's not about the money. I make decent money as it is, at least until my employer ceases to exist, which is going to happen and I'm starting to get the feeling that may be sooner rather then later. I guess if I had more money, I would have a bass boat, but I probably could as it stands now too I just have been so happy with the kayak that I haven't really thought about it too much lately. 10 hours ago, Captain Phil said: Find something you enjoy doing that pays enough money to live on. Be your own boss. I have had several ideas that I could have completely made bank on, long before anyone else thought of them and they hit the market. But I never had the connections to make that happen without selling my ideas to a larger company and hoping they don't just jack my idea (even though I'd be sure to patent it first but that only goes so far). 4 hours ago, Darth-Baiter said: at 40 with a family, with kids. dang...it isn't all about ME at that point. ...and that's the only reason that I let it get this far. 1 Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted March 30, 2022 Author Super User Posted March 30, 2022 Well as an update, I am far along into the interview process with two different companies. I am fairly sure that I will have a job offer for at least one of them fairly soon. It is a bit of a pay cut, but I generally did fine when I made a similar amount of money and I should be able to move up quickly as well. The job sounds far more interesting (will have a steep learning curve at first for sure) and the benefits are really good, which helps balance out the pay cut. Fingers crossed 8 Quote
