I've been away for a few weeks but thanks for all the info so far.

My only concern would be whether or not the transducer would fit through my Old Town Topwater 106 transducer hole.

My choices with Side Imaging would be out of these.

Humminbird Helix G2 SI GPS

Lowrance Hook Reveal 7 X TripleShot

Garmin Striker Vivid Series 7SV

You might need a Navarre adapter plate for certain transducers, but they definitely all fit.

In my opinion, I'd skip the Hook. The tripleshot transducer is supremely disappointing, and the Ti2 7" only $100 more, and twice the quality.

I just saw an article that stated that Academy Sports will have the 12 inch, Lowrance Hook2 on sale on Black Friday for only $700.

Just got my BPS Black Friday circular

Garmin Echomap 93SV - $700 - that's $350 off the regular price

Wow, imagine me sporting a 12" fish finder on a kayak. Maybe, if I didn't fish shallow rivers half the time.

Thanks, I'll check it out.

You got a canoe if I'm not mistaken, how big would be too big for a kayak of my size? I don't want it so big it interferes with paddling, casting and netting.

Had a canoe - sold it to finance the boat rebuild.

The 9" isn't much bigger than the 7" - 11.4"x6.5" vs 9.8"x5.5" - so unless you're really cramped, the 9" should fit without issue.

If I'd had the money, I'd have gotten the 9" myself - the 7" is hard to see sometimes because of the distance between it and my eye.

It might make you tip over!

But seriously, space on a kayak is at a premium. Unless you had a dashboard type setup it would probably get in the way.

The one drawback of my pedal kayak is that you can't mount anything right in front of you. Everything needs to be on the rails.

I think I'm going to pull the trigger on this one, it seems to be the best deal by far.

Is there a difference between this 93sv for $1050 and the other 93sv listed for $1099? Both say they have LakeVu maps preloaded.

The more expensive one comes with the newer GT56 transducer, as opposed to the GT54 that comes with the one on sale

Thanks, I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference as this is my 1st fish finder. It's over twice as much as I originally wanted to spend, but I got 8% cash back which came to $56.

I think a Echomap 93sv for under $700 is a great deal, though I'm sure it's going to be a long season of learning how to use it and getting it dialed in.

The first thing I need to figure out is how to attach it to my rail system on my Old Town 106.

First thing I though of was Ram - but the largest track-mount they have only supports up to a 73xV...93xV and up use bolt-on mounts.

Scotty might have a solution - but I'd probably check with them to be sure.

438 Gear-Head Track Adaptor

367 Universal Fish Finder Mount

I see no reason this won't work

It's almost a $400 transducer. A lot of guys have upgraded the transducer after already owning the unit, and have said that it is better, but not $400 better.

Thanks, I picked one of those up. I got a 10 ah battery and box for it, so I think I'm good to go.

The 93sv pulls 1.25a. 10 might not be enough, depending on how long you need it to run, and definitely won't be enough if you got lead acid

If it's a Lithium battery - 7-7.5 hours...don't want to go to 0amps

If it's a Lead-Acid - 4 hours max.

Lithium will have a BMS shutoff around 15-20%. So you're really only getting 6.5 hours max

That one would do the job - and Dakota is a top-rated brand too.
