OldManLure Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 I carry a Queen 3-blade pocketknife that has been with me everyday since college. I strap a diving knife to my lower leg for ‘emergencies’ when I’m in my kayak, and among my tackle is a Rapala fillet knife I carry to gut invasive species that periodically beat smallies to the bait. 1

Here's my nipper that I carry freshwater fly fishing. I used to wear this Kiku Matsuda kiridashi in the salt - the nickel+VG-10 hand-folded damascus is the most salt-impervious blade next to titanium - also holds a razor edge... until I realized if I dropped it in the bay, I could never replace it.
desmobob Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 Do you have a break-away section in your lanyards? I nearly got strangled in the woods by a compass hung around my neck on a piece of paracord once. I think that might be part of the reason I can't warm up to neck knives.
Super User scaleface Posted October 30, 2021 Super User Posted October 30, 2021 I carry three knives when fishing . A Swiss Army knife in my left pocket . A one handed opening knife [Sanrenmu } that clips to my right pocket . A Leatherman on my belt . 1

I carry my neck knife inside my shirt, reach between shirt buttons to grab the knife. Especially in the salt, I'm wearing so many straps to keep my sunglasses and hat in coast wind, camera lanyard, throw a pdf on top, and the fewer extra loose lines the better. I don't wear the neck knife when I'm driving, but hang it on my rear view mirror with all the other keepers. Too many friends were ER surgeons to let me wear the neck knife when driving. 1
Smells like fish Posted October 30, 2021 Author Posted October 30, 2021 @scaleface which model of Swiss Army knife do you carry? I knew among you fish fanatics that there would be a lot of knife men as well lol I have bought 2 Leatherman 2 Victorinox and been given 2 nock off Swiss Army knives in the last 2 weeks alone. I am headed to the knife cases today to handle that Fisherman model I mentioned in the first post. Knife monkey ?

Ozark Trail knife with a bright colored handle so I can find it easily if I set it down. I lost my Cuda rescue knife that I used when kayaking. Must have popped out of its sheath when I was loading the kayak on my car. I have been clipping a Folding knife to my PFD since. 2

Smells like fish Posted October 31, 2021 Author Posted October 31, 2021 Picked it up today, whether it goes with me fishing or not the bait monkey approved of its link to fishing… 1 hour ago, Boomstick said: https://www.tackledirect.com/mustad-kvd-pocket-knife.html Yep, very cool. Smells like fish Posted October 31, 2021 Author Posted October 31, 2021 Somebody needs to send a pic of what a fish really looks like to Switzerland. Must not have any bass over there 2
Super User king fisher Posted November 2, 2021 Super User Posted November 2, 2021 I have had a Victorinox Swiss Army Officier in my pocket at all times except on commercial flights since 1988. I have had to donate a few to customs over the years. One time leaving Dillingham AK Airport I hid one above the doorway above the entrance to the airport, rather than have to give it away. The next year when I was back in Dillingham the knife was right where I hid it. I don't know why I could remember where I hid the knife, but can never remember to take it out of my pocket and put it in a checked bag before boarding a plane. My wife calls it selective memory. I also carry scissors pliers and clippers when I am fishing. 1
Super User N Florida Mike Posted November 2, 2021 Super User Posted November 2, 2021 Not really. I probably have 10 pocket knives and I just grab one for the trip. I also carry small scissors in my tackle bag…
Super User flyfisher Posted November 3, 2021 Super User Posted November 3, 2021 Gerber river shorty clipped under my seat on my kayak most times. When I anticipate being in a more dicey situation I will strap it to my life vest for easy access. I have pliers and a boomerang snip tool clipped under my seat as well. I rarely if ever use the knife
