Brush Hog20 Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 I need to put a graph on the bow of my rig. I have been looking at the Humminbird 570. Does anybody have any experience's with this unit yet, and does anyone have any other suggestions for a good reliable economical unit? Thanks fellas... Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted March 5, 2010 Super User Posted March 5, 2010 The 570 is the replacement for the 565. It's a good unit in that price range. Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 I just got mine for the bow as a replacement for a 100SX. It is IMO the best resolution and features for the $. I am very happy with mine. Quote
harpoon Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 I am soo glad someone posted this thread. I am looking at the very same unit. The specs seem pretty solid for a $200 unit. Does anyone know if they make a kit for this model where I can Mount this unit either on the Bow or at the helm? Thanks Harpoon Quote

Thanks Harpoon If you mean the adapter to install the transducer on the trolling motor than you need part # AD XTM 9. I just got mine and it fit perfectly. http://cgi.ebay.com/HUMMINBIRD-TROLLING-MOTOR-TRANSDUCER-ADAPTER-AD-XTM-9_W0QQitemZ230446212600QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item35a7aa25f8 Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted March 8, 2010 Super User Posted March 8, 2010 Dink, check your PM's. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted March 9, 2010 Super User Posted March 9, 2010 The only difference I can see between the 570 and the 565 is the shape of the head unit. All features seem to be the same. Best unit you can buy for less than $500 IMO. Resolution is second to none. Quote

I need to play with the settings some more, but I'm happy with it so far. My only complaint, and I complain about all B&W depth finders, is that I need to turn the contrast pretty far up to be able to see it well. Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted March 9, 2010 Super User Posted March 9, 2010 I did a lot of comparison shopping and bought a 570 as well. I got the portable model for my canoe - it comes with a battery, charger, suction-cup mount transducer, and nylon carrying case. As was said above, this unit has the highest resolution in it's class. These don't seem to be discounted anyplace so I ordered it direct from the Humminbird web site - I had the unit 3/4 days after ordering it. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted March 9, 2010 Super User Posted March 9, 2010 Got it at BPS on sale, like 10 bucks cheaper. Regular is $199.99. Got mine for $189.99. Maybe the chick just liked me though. You know, for my manly body and all... Quote
Brush Hog20 Posted March 9, 2010 Author Posted March 9, 2010 I picked one up yesterday for 189..thanks for the replies guys... Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted March 9, 2010 Super User Posted March 9, 2010 Brush Hog, enjoy playing with it. I know I have fun with mine. Spend the time to learn the settings and get a good picture you're happy with. Turning the TVG/Switchfire off gives you a great raw sonar picture. You can track lures as they drop, etc etc. You've just got to deal with the extra clutter that comes on the screen from it. For just cruising around looking for structure, I leave mine off to get a nice clean image of the water. My biggest problem right now is deciding what bottom view I like. Inverse, structure id, or the whiteline. I'm not a fan of the bottom black view personally. Quote
