Alphas

Alphas

Alphas

50th Anniversary Zillion

TD SOL

You have about  $600.00 combined and maybe more.  Those are all wonderful reels and totally fishable.  It would be a crime to just display them.

I'll take the sol and zillion off your hands, shoot me a price.

Actually, the reel in the second photo is a Daiwa Megabass Alphas Ito.

The first Alphas is known as the 'Purple' Alphas.  Made from 2005-2009 from what I could find.  I have 3 of them.  The third picture might be a Type F Alphas and pretty sure it will have 'Type F' on the reel somewhere if it is.  Been awhile since I've used mine and it would take too long for me to find it right now.

I am a fan of the Alphas reels and the 50th Anniversary Zillion is one of my favorite reels.  The first Alphas looks to be in very good shape.  The others not so great.  I know some people say they are just tools and scratches, boat rash, etc. gives them character.  Sorry, but I like to keep mine looking like the day I bought them.  And I still manage to catch the occasional fish with them even tho they look nice.  :teeth:  It only takes a few seconds to put a reel cover on.  I learned the hard way.  Not doing so put a nice boat rash on my mint Chronarch 101A.

I lnow there are many out there that have more ‘extra’ money than I do, but why would you spend a good amount of hard earned cash on a reel and proceed to let it get beat up?  I still have my first Daiwa  it’s easily 35yrs old. It has one nick and works as good as the day I bought it.
I wouldn’t purchase a beat up reel. If the previous owner didn’t care enough to take care of the outside, how do you think he took care of the inside?

None of the reels pictures look beat up to me. There's some dust and cobwebs, but nothing that warrants two paragraphs worth of criticism.

The OG Alphas platform is one of the best IMO.  So many possibilities with those reels and the platform was around long enough that there's an extensive aftermarket.  The new platform used by the newer Alphas SV TW and Alphas Air TW is different, and time will tell how beloved they become in the future.  The 2019 and under models were made in Japan, while the 2020+ models are made in Thailand.

Agree.

I bought a new monitor for my 13 inch laptop because I've been doing some work from home while on medical leave.  I use a CadCam for it and the 13 inch screen is the pits.  So I took a closer look after your post.  I did originally see that the reels were filthy, but upon looking closer I think I agree with you.  Some of what I originally thought were scratches could very well be cobwebs.

The seller obviously didn't store them properly.  If I were to buy them, the first thing I'd do is send them out for a thorough cleaning...since I don't take my reels apart.  Got to spread my income around for those more deserving of it than me.  :lol1:

Keep in mind, some of these are at least 15 years old. They're gonna show some wear. They look like a few of mine if they sit in the rack for a month, lol. Doesn't require a professional cleaning to get rid the dust and cobwebs. The internals however could probably benefit from a pro cleaning though if they've really been sitting for a while.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Yes, it is just pet hair and dust. I made him an offer. I would like to have the reels, i am a huge Daiwa fan. We will see what he says.

Thanks again.

Best of luck??   Those are definitely nice looking reels.

I hope your offer gets accepted.  It wasn't too long ago that I saw a NIB or LNIB 50th Anniversary Zillion for either $350 or $375.  MSRP was $300.  Don't know if it sold at the asking price.  I just know I love mine.  Although I have many brands...and enjoy them all...I am something of a Daiwa fan myself.  I have about 45 of their casting reels and 11 spinning reels.

Congratulations @Mickey Rheuarkon your haul! Very nice reels, the Ito was my first JDM reel purchase. Alphas type-F and Zillions are still in my starting lineup. Just outta curiosity, are you also getting the boxes with the reels?

By the way, the Alphas Ito frame really doesn’t like brackish or salt water which is why it’s in semi-retirement. I found that out during a past drought with saltwater intrusion into the delta.

I had two, and they really don't like any water, lol.  I was always buffing watermarks off the raw aluminum frame and crank side plate.  Looked super slick though.

I only got the one, OT was plentiful at the time. Great little reel, great memories…

I miss OT, been Salary Exempt for over 20 years now.  I had quite a few Alphas platform reels, including all that are pictured here.
