Anyone have this rod and can comment on what you like throwing on it? I fish out of a kayak and am looking for a rod under 7’ for skipping 3/8 to 1/2 ounce jigs. But I’d like to use it for other single hook lures like chatterbaits and spinnerbaits. Alex at ALX said this rod blank is the same one as the Toadface, which I find really interesting because I also want to throw frogs and toads with the Skipper. (Toadface is 7’ 2” and a bit long for my liking out of the yak.)

Take a look at the falcon Cara eye crosser. It’s a 6’11” heavy 1/2-1-1/2. I’ve used one as a jig rod for most of this season. It’s fantastic. It’s worked great for every single hook presentation I’ve used it for from 3/8 jigs and jackhammers up to a 5.5” swammer  on a 3/8’s 6/0 beast hook. You can literally count grains of sand with it. It would do everything you asked for and more. It’s a fast action, but by no means a broomstick.

And it was made to be soft plastic toad rod in heavy veggies.

Big Falcon fan, have their HD MF, around 6’ 9”, killer budget rod for $70. Will definitely check the Eye Crosser out. Have you also thrown hollow-bodied frogs on it in any type of cover?

I haven’t mostly because I don’t really have any heavy pads or mats where I fish. But that’s what it was made for. I would have no problems doing it though. You can also call falcon the techs great to talk to.
