What crankbaits do you always carry? Do you carry a rod for every depth range crankbait?
Example shallow squarebill , mid depth and a couple deep like 6xd and 10xd or?

I have an uncurbable addiction to crankbaits, and the Bait Monkey knows it.  I own almost every size, color, make and model, ever made, and still buy more looking for that one magic plug.  I fish from a kayak, so I do have to limit the number I bring for a day.  I usually have a couple for every depth range and limit my colors to chartreuse black, some type of shad, and something with red, or orange.  I used to fish mostly balsa cranks, but have been using 6th. sense crankbaits lately.  I like the cloud nine series, and all of their square bills.  Many days I leave all the extra deep divers at home.  I probably could catch just as many fish, if all I had was a bomber 7A, a deep little N, and a Balsa square bill.  Almost forgot, I have to have a chrome and black Rattle Trap.

crankbaiting can be as complicated as you want it to be, or as advanced. Simply a glass or composite rod in the medium range should do wonders. I only carry one rod because im not lazy and can retie. I fish floro and mono 100% of the time. Mono for shallower, floro for deeper. I carry a standard squarebill, a shallow running squarebill in that 0-1 foot range, and a extra deep runner that is suitible for the depth of my lake. I also have a tight wobbled squarebill for early spring and late fall. (You can also substitute this for a lipless or a bladebait). colors really arent that hard, shiny for schooling fish, a sexy shad for stained water, and a chartruse for muddier water. you can also get a red if you really want to be fancy. Finally, I dont buy expensive cranks because the lips end up breaking before I can finish fishing them, rapalas are notorious for this, KVD squarebills are 5 bucks and do very well.

Currently I only have one cranking rod.  I’m working on getting a 2nd for deep cranking.  Ideally I’d like to have a rod for 3-12 ft and than a rod for 12+ feet. Granted I probably only need the deep cranking rod for 3 out of the 8-9 months I’m able to fish.  Now not all lakes or rivers  I fish would need the deep crank rod.  So it would be like my punching rod and be a situational thing.  Shallow crank rod I always take

I have 1 deep 3700 box that carries all the lipped crankbaits I have in my boat. I've got about 10-15 that I fish with any regularity. I've got 3 different rods for them, 1 for shallow to mid range with a slow retrieve and heavy line, one for the same range with a faster reel and lighter line, and 1 for deeper cranks or mag squarebills.

I have another box and combo for lipless baits.

A few custom DT-6 and Strike King 1.5's.  Throw them on a standard MH/F setup but it's been over a year since I tied one on..

3x3700 shallow boxes and 1x3700 standard box...all pretty much full

I toss cranks on 3 different rigs

6.3:1 Fuego on a Fury 705CB 0 majority of my crank work

7.3:1 President XT on a Fury 703C - squarebills and lipless

Avocet RZT-1000 on a Reflexions ML/MF - jointed shallow shad-rap, small lipless (Ratlin Rap 05, etc) and other small/light cranks.

I have many different crankbaits from shallow divers 0-1ft., regular shallow 3-5ft., medium depth9-12ft. and deep divers 20ft. I have everything from Spro, 6th Sense, Berkley and Booyah to Bill Lewis, Googan and Lucky Craft. I have 2 rods for my crankbait needs, 1 is a 7ft. Medium/Moderate rod for shallow to mid range and 1 is a 7'6" Medium Heavy/Moderate for my deep divers. Like an above member said, I do a majority of my crankbait fishing with my 7ft. rod and only use the 7'6" for situational fishing as I rarely fish deep with crankbaits...just more or less wanted to have a setup available for when I need it.

I have a bunch of crankbaits, but usually just one color of each.  Depth, sound, wobble, and profile are what I concern myself with most.

As for rods, I just have a M/M composite rod for shallow to mid depth crankbaits.  I use a MH/F rod deeper diving cranks, as I find that I usually get bit on them with a lot of line out, and need the extra backbone more than shock absorption.  That also cuts down on the number of rods I need to carry.  I might choose a MH/MF if I wanted to carry a second rod for deeper diving crankbaits, but I try to limit the amount of gear I have to carry and maintain.

I also have a ML/F spinning setup for the light, tiny, balsa crankbaits.  They're hard to cast on baitcasting gear.  Again, it's a crossover Ned rod to save on gear and space.

I keep a 3700 box filled to overflowing with each of the following in my boat all season: shallow, squarebill, med. diving, deep diving, lipless, silent and one marked secret weapons that I keep in my ‘carry on’ bag. Pick a brand that sells for under $10 and I bet I have at least one. Do I carry any pricier cranks?  I’m related to the bait monkey  (by marriage) and he visits regularly! Guess.

I have a ton of crankbaits....that said I don't fish them near as often as I probably should. The 2 I use most is a size 5 shallow shad rap and a 1\4oz red eye shad.

I ain't crazy about crankbaits but there are times when I tie one on.

Right now & through pre-spawn/spawn it's a 6th Sense Movement 80X. The bill is wider than the lure allowing it to deflect like crazy.

I  always have probably around 12 to 15 crankbaits in the box this time of year.  They always seem to be the same ones.  KVD 1.5, Mann's one minus, and some Cordell spots fished on a 7'0" mh/f, or a 6'6" m/f rod

I love to chunk & wind almost anything.

However, my lipped crankbait fishing has dropped off dramatically the past few years.

Just found better options for the local brown bass, especially for deeper applications.

So much so that I re-homed at least half of what I had.

Still carry a decent assortment of shallow & mid-depth options,

which I throw when it's the deal, but plan on thinning the herd again a bit this winter.

I carry everything from 1 foot divers to 25 foot divers along with lipless baits . They are usually fished on a 7 foot mh rod . The large cranks I'll use a 7 foot hvy action rod . Lighter baits will often be thrown on 6'6" med action if I bring it along .

Totally depends on whether I’m going in my boat or someone else’s.  If it’s mine, since I was sponsored by SPRO, I have 1 box each for original Little John’s, 1 for medium depth and 1 for deep and extra deep divers.  I have 2 boxes for Aruku Shad lipless, 1 for the smaller size (65) and 1 for the larger size (75).   If I’m going in someone else’s boat, I cherry pick from all of these into 1 3700 that also includes jerkbaits.

Trying to carry all my crankbaits is too cumbersome.  The baits are separated by type and in their respective boxes on a shelf near the boat.  I have some day or trip boxes.  When I determine where I’m going I select the baits out of the “pantry” and load in those boxes. It makes no sense carry baits that won’t come into play.  I do the same with jigs, spinnerbaits and plastics.  I always carry my terminal boxes though.

I do have multiple cranking rods.  Same process.  I take combos only required for the baits I selected. No reason to take a socket set when I’m just changing electrical switches.

I have a large tackle box filled with crankbaits. They run anywhere from 1' to around 12' deep. I have some that run deeper but I rarely take them with me for the places I fish. Doesn't matter how deep it runs or if it is a lipless they all get thrown on the same rod.
