A few weeks ago I bought a couple of Vision 110s after a skunking because that's just not going to fly for fall fishing. ;) I never thought I would, but I'm glad I did. Since then I've been wearing them out on 110s, War Eagles, and Texas Rigged Senkos.

As I'm sitting in my cripple chair along the bank yesterday (foot injury) I lost both 110s. I hooked into what I believe would have been my PB and I gave her too much drag and she wrapped me up around a log. Vision 110 and bass gone. THE VERY NEXT CAST I decided that the same spot I just got wrapped up in would be intelligent to throw to or something. Annnnnnd second 110 lost to the log. Believe it or not I wasn't even mad. I laughed to myself and mumbled, "Why are you the way that you are?"

So this evening I'm hobbling around Cabela's to get a couple more 110s. They only had 2 colors left in stock, but thankfully 1 of those colors was Pearl, which has been successful for me, so I grabbed 2 of them. I forget the other color, but I thought ehhh I'll try it. So I grabbed one of those too. Then I turned around and saw a shelf of Strike King KVD jerkbaits for $10 each. I promptly put the 3rd Vision 110 back on the shelf and grabbed 2 of the KVDs in Sexy Shad.

So, how are these KVD jerkbaits?

two 110s lost in one day ?. I'd be getting a snorkel and going down for those guys. But yes I have heard good things about them, the 13 fishing whipper snapper is also good imo

The SK jerkbaits work fine. I'll throw them over the MB when I'm not concerned with it sitting/suspending very long. I catch alot of bass on the Oyster color.

I usually take the bait out the pack, hook the pack and jerk that around..they see the KVD, it gets irresistible..

(They work)

The kvd work when the bass are feeding. If the bass are finicky it is hard to beat the vision 110.

I like the kvd’s.  I need to get some of the 3-6 ft ones as most of mine are the 10-12 ft ones.

I feel your pain on loosing them. I don’t use jerk baits much as I’m not good at it. Finally worked up the nerve to put on a perch mega bass ito 110 and started killing the bass.  Landed 5-8 in a row untill a not so friendly northern pike took it.  I watched him grab it lifted the rod slightly and the mega bass jerk bait was gone.

off topic but the mega bass make jerk bait fishing easy.  I tried using some lc slender pointers 112 mr’s and didn’t care for the action.

6th sense makes a good jerk bait too

SK jerkbaits are good stuff. I was going to say @A-Jay uses them very effectively but he beat me to it

Been pretty much the only jerkbait I’ve thrown the last few years. I’ve caught a ton of nice smallmouth, largemouth and I also do quite well in the spring and later in the fall for big pike with them. Pretty darn good bang for the buck as far as I’m concerned.

I had a few of the SK KVDs, I think I lost them all in snags but I got a few fish, no complaints about them really. The 110s are also good. My favorite jerkbait has been the Berkley cutter, catches me a ton and doesn't break the bank.

I wouldn’t be able to catch a fish with either so I am happy to report confidently that the KVD works just as good as the 110 ????

I have tried a lot of jerkbaits. The KVDs have always been the epitome of mediocrity for me. Not great, but certainly not bad. The deeper 300 version has a time and a place though.

the action isnt as refined as the 110 but they catch fish especially when the water is 55 or so. as the water really starts to cool some of the more refined jerkbaits seem to work better for me.

Probably being a little too critical of yourself on the drag issue.  One of the challenges with 110’s is the light wire hooks are easy to rip out or create a large hole with too much pressure, so fishing around wood can be difficult.  If you are not already doing so, you might consider using a medium fast rod which will be more forgiving with treble’s.  The pearl you bought is great.  Threadfin Shad and Ito Natural have worked for me as well.

I’m gonna grab a few lucky craft jerks.  They have great looking colors.  Example.  Sexy Shad is….well sexy!

you save half the money I think.

I recently got some jerkbait success.  It’s a fun bite.  Better than the hard stop you get when your crankbait gets hit.   I love how you’re paused and just waiting when you feel the bass hit.  So much fun. It’s exciting anticipating the slam.

luckycraft , makes good baits the jacklal  rerange is also a good bait. although the rerange has a more aggressive wider action that is usually more effective above 50 degrees.
