While I have serious slowed down on buying new tackle stuff I have accumulated over the years is out of hand.  Not sure if everyone saw the video I posted showing the tackl explosion in my basement? Desided I really need to just get rid of a lot of it. To tell you how bad it is I started going through all my unopened highend hard baits yesterday.  There is now a 66 quart tub with 168 NIP LC, Megabass, and Zenith baits to be sold.  Stopping by Walmart tomorrow to buy more tubs.

If I dumped all the hard baits and plastics I owned in a tub - I don't think I'd even fill a 66qt.

Holy-cow, Allen - that's a lot of lures.

Put them up in the flea market. You’ll get some extra cash for the holidays.

I understand you’re feelings. I’ve collected so many plastics now I’ve sworn buying anything until it’s all gone. Might take another year.

It's one of 9 66 quart tubs in the basement or garage.  Willing to bet I have as much tackle as Dicks Sporting Goods here in Hagerstown.  Not sure if I will get around to the soft plastics anytime soon? A lot of them I will just give to the Jr bassmasters clubs in the area.

Let me know if you need about 800 more packs of plastics?

When I decided to sell all my tackle saved for over 65 years it was amazing how much stuff we collect.

Soft plastics I sold to one individual weighed 49 lbs! Still had more then 100 lbs Soft plastics to sell. 40 Hudds alone and 40 over more big Swimbaits to sell. 100’s of crankbaits, spinnerbaits, spoons and antique lures.

At least it took me a lifetime to collect them. Lots of memories getting the lures out and selling them, some were like old friends.

I don’t buy things I don’t intend to use. That way I won’t have lures sitting around collecting dust.

Thanks for being someone who understands who understands!

So when everyone asks how did I accumulate so much stuff it goes back to my childhood.  I grew up poor and could not afford the fishing stuff I wanted as a teenager.  Until I was in 9th grade then we barely hit middle class? To put things into perspective my current garage is bigger than the house we lived in for years. Now I have put myself through college with the GI Bill and learned valuable lessons in life.  At this point I can afford whatever I want for fishing but my time is limited.  So when I can't go fishing and want to I buy stuff that I hope to use when I can. Over the years it has added up to the point where you can barely walk through my basement without tripping over boxes of lures.

I find a lot of lures when I fish...I guess some people don't wont to get their boat too close to the rocks.

I also have a habit of picking up floats will fishing...my float collection currently sits at about 90!!

I don’t think I’ve ever known anyone who buys tackle they don’t intend to use, but then I’ve never attended a meeting of Anglers Anonymous.

I misspoke on my previous post. It should read “I don’t buy things I don’t use” not “intend to use.” Obviously when someone buys a lure they have the intention of using it at some point. My mistake.

Maybe your right though. With all these lures sitting around, it’s possible some people are simply buying them for the heck of it.

That pic had me drooling or slobbering a nice stream, sort of like a small stream one might catch a bass in. I’ve got problems… and that’s just for floats

Hehehehe

@Munkin I feel like it’s near the end of season for most and you are making decisions too hasty. I suggest you sleep on it til spring and keep on keeping on.

If I lived to be 150 I doubt I could ever use all the lures in my collection.  Besides I only plan on getting rid of about 25% to start.

Go to Black Hills Lake Seneca and you will double that in a day. I pull about 12 of those out of the water every time I go fishing there.

That’s funny.  Seneca Lake was one of the first places I took my son when introducing him to fishing.  He was 7 or 8.  One of his first questions was “why are all those floats in the trees?”.

Everywhere but I never see anyone actually use them.
