Bandersnatch Posted October 24, 2021 Posted October 24, 2021 Is this going or starting as a jdm option or a usdm? The item numbers look the exact same as the original CT so it's hard to find them. Also. Besides the longer handle and loss of individual colors between ratios is there any difference between the original and new CT? I know the CT is marketed with all of the hyper marketing but I'm wondering if the gears or anything is actually different. It's being marketed as a more durable reel and gear but isn't it the same dura-aluminium gear? Quote
QED Posted October 24, 2021 Posted October 24, 2021 First vendors I looked at last week didn't have them in stock. Tackle Warehouse has an expected arrival date of 10/31, but given the current supply chain crisis, I wouldn't give much credence to that ETA. That would be The Steez 70 CT SV TW. Quote
KP Duty Posted October 24, 2021 Posted October 24, 2021 Digitaka has the ct back in stock. I'm not aware of any updated version of the '19 ct steez. 1 Quote

FrankN209 Posted October 24, 2021 Posted October 24, 2021 Here is the link to it on the Daiwa website..supposed to retail for 729.00. With all the hype of the new Steez LTD, and new "wording" of old architecture, I would hold off. https://daiwa.us/collections/baitcasting-reels/products/new-steez-ct-sv-tws-70 Quote
redmeansdistortion Posted October 24, 2021 Posted October 24, 2021 I wonder what's different between this and the '19 CT SV. I couldn't locate a schematic for the new one yet so I haven't been able to look and see. 1 Quote
QED Posted October 24, 2021 Posted October 24, 2021 This is a vintage UL (yes UL and not BFS) Shimano graphite Colfor casting rod with a 2019 CT SV TW reel with 6lb test. Caught thousands of fish with the rod but the reel is relatively new. Just had the rod guides double rewrapped by an awesome custom rod shop, so better than new (PM me if you want a reference to a great Silicon Valley custom rod artisan). Pre-ordered the newer 70 CT SV TW so I'll note the differences when I can. 2 Quote
QED Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 Tackle Warehouse acknowledged my order for the newest Steez CT SV so I hope to see it soon. The old one (2019) doesn't suck either. First time out, I had infrequent, random bird nests. Turns out the default setting was 0 brake. So I'm glad my thumb muscle memory was good enough to mostly deal with that. Brake at 2 and relaxed tension/compression knob settings and it casts pretty well. Highly recommended. 1 Quote

However, even if the new CT is the '19 Steez with a facelift - it's not something to complain about - you're still getting a Japan bench-tuned reel. Here's my SV-TW with Roro-X spool on shore light-game rod. Next week we have a 5-day kayak flats-fishing rodeo, and two of those days should be fishing this rod - my first chance to land redfish with it Have to fish this rod where I can get out of the boat - it's the equivalent of a 4-wt fly rod - can't risk a big red getting under the boat. 5 Quote

Bandersnatch Posted October 30, 2021 Author Posted October 30, 2021 I don't think I saw the answer of the jdm question. Is this going to be a jdm offering that's sold on the jdm sites? Quote

Is this going to be a jdm offering that's sold on the jdm sites? It was shown at Icast and is available for pre-order at tackle warehouse so should be available USDM. Net cost for pre-order with shipping and tax was almost $800. I’ll report back when I get it, but at that price point it won’t be flying off the shelves. Quote
QED Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 Not surprisingly, availability date at Tackle Warehouse pushed out to December 1. Oy vey! Quote
