Bass XL Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Ok, plan on fishing top water during a night tourney coming up....and on the lake, they really pound zara spooks and buzzbaits (so i hear)....what color would you choose for these lures at night? Quote
Super User Raul Posted August 8, 2007 Super User Posted August 8, 2007 The truth ? Choose the one you like, what 's attracting them is the surface commotion. Quote
dumb_dog11 Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 the generic answer youll get is a dark color because dark colors will contrast better with the moonlight when a bass is looking up! Quote
Bass Hammer Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Honestly I have never noticed a difference at night. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 9, 2007 Super User Posted August 9, 2007 I everyone is killing them with a Spook, buy a big LC Sammy in Aurora Black (blue) and put a hurtin' on 'em! Quote
Super User T-rig Posted August 9, 2007 Super User Posted August 9, 2007 Any color will do but black seems to be angler's preferred. I agree with roadwarrior, get yourself some LC Sammy's 115 or 128. Quote
Taliesin Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 the generic answer youll get is a dark color because dark colors will contrast better with the moonlight when a bass is looking up! X2 It's the standard answer. If you have a lot of shad in the lake, you might think of white or chrome (especially if you have a lot of light from a full moon, street lights, etc.). You might try a Jitterbug also. Plenty of noise to attract the fish. Come to think of it, almost any topwater can be worked in a way that creates a lot of noise to attract fish. A while ago I was in a local (fun) tourney and while no one else had luck with topwaters, I did well "walking" a Tiny Torpedoe. I made as much noise as a buzzbait, but it wan't moving quickly. Seems that's what they wanted that day. If the buzzbaits are working well, you might also try a prop lure worked fairly fast. Give them something they haven't seen in a while. Quote
