New Years Day looks raw. Every day I check the forecast, the high goes even lower. I looked a few days ago and they said 10. Then they said 4. Now it’s not looking like it will make it above zero.

And we've lost power here

Hope it comes back soon, otherwise it's gonna get chilly in the house.

The whole west coast got hit by winter's icy grip on Dec 26.  From Northern CA to Canada, snow fell and temps dropped.  I haven't seen temps above 27 degrees in 5 days at my place.  Overnight lows are ....Antartica.

Our daytime highs have been lower than Iceland.

12" of snow hit my house in 8 hrs. 3-6" inches forecasted overnight.

You guys are just beginning to get it.

The good news is that daytime temps are finally going to reach above freezing on Saturday.  Still will be low 20's overnight.  But it's a start.  And they're expecting heavy rainfall on Monday....which means flooding as the snow melts with it too.

We’ve gotten a couple inches in the last 24 hours and looking at 6-8 Sunday.

2" of heart attack snow on Tuesday. Broke my shovel. Another 2" overnight. Were expecting 8 on Saturday before it heads your way. Supposed to be cold so probably light and fluffy.

That stuff is the worst. We usually get some of it in March when the temperature is warmer. I’ve tried snow blowing it and that doesn’t work because it comes out like ketchup. Shoveling it is the only option. It’s like shoveling pennies.

I liken it more to trying to shovel wet concrete.

The heart attack snow is the absolute worst! Single stage and two stage don’t work like @gimruis said. I’ve never tried a three stage but doubtful it would make a difference. I wonder if the issue is the moisture in the snow, the cold temps, and the heat from engine creates the perfect recipe for clogging?

We only got around 2” here, far from the 4-6 they were calling for.

A bit chilly today and the overnight lows are getting into the single digits. On my way home from dropping 6poundbass off at a friends today I actually saw a guy venturing out onto a pond across from the lake next to us to do a little ice fishing. I saw his tracks where he went out to check it first before coming back to grab his pop up and gear. The pond is small, but I think it’s a bit premature to try ice fishing yet. Most lakes around are still partially open.

Last January was very mild here.  January is supposed to be the coldest month of the year.  Now that I think about it, virtually the entire winter was mild last year other than a 2 week stretch in February.

We still need an epic amount of snow to make a dent in the drought.
