I thought April Fools was yesterday. 2" of snow so far today and it's coming down pretty good. What a joke!

Our local water temps dropped back into the mid 40's ☹️

I started to see the ice pull away from shore on some smaller metro lakes yesterday. The ponds and overflow drainage areas are ice free.  There is another couple days of rainy weather in the forecast this week which will continue to help our drought and melt away some lake ice.

I remember 2018. We got a blizzard in mid April and it was 95 degrees by Memorial Day, just 45 days later. Spring was basically non-existent. Directly from winter to summer, and I think we tied the latest ice out on Tonka that year, May 5.

Actually sunny and mid 40's today. The snow that fell yesterday is melted. Supposed to rain all week. Next weekend weather permitting, I'll be meat fishing.

With the rain and snow melt from the last 2 weeks, my home water is near summer pool. The raising water should bring the crappies and bass into the channels to start the prespawn rituals. I just hope the DNR doesn't keep dumping water thru the locks. May 1st is when they close the southern locks and fill the lakes with water from Wisconsin.

Sooo.... the past 2 weekends, we've had everything nature can throw at us: Heavy rains, snow, sleet, hail, sun, and high winds (w/power outages and flooding).  Often it comes in waves all on the same day - experiencing all 4 seasons within hours.

The mountain passes have been closed for multiple car wrecks and compact snow and ice (which only happens during the winter.....it happened today!)

Basically, both weekends have been havoc.

And last Thursday?  Sunny and 73.

This next week is going to be wet, stormy, and very cold all week - typical winter weather.

Spring be like:
