A-Jay Thankfully it was that light powdery snow that blew back in your face, not to mention the blizzard winds that took it sideways. The coast got the wet heavy snow. A lot of beach front homes look like ice castles. Thursday will be about 52*, hopefully a lot snow melt will be happening. 1 Quote

Not a soul is out there. If the roads aren't too treacherous Jr's coming over later to save the day with his monster snow blower. Usually the snow is powdery when it's this cold, but this stuff is dense. Forget the mess blocking the driveway and pitched onto the sidewalk. Quote

It was still 50 in December here. Our winters have been getting shorter and warmer and we just had the warmest fall on record. You consider 50 degrees warm? That is not warm weather, warm is 75 degrees and above. How many months a year is it 75 degrees and above where you live? If it is less than 6 months then it means half the year is not warm weather. I’ll take snow over a hurricane any day of the week and so would anyone else. The snow will melt. It’s not going to flatten or flood your home. I have lived through a direct hit from Hurricane Andrew and many other hurricanes, it is much better than having the lights go off for days in freezing weather caused by a nasty blizzard. The Northerners that moved down here in Florida seem to agree with me. On 1/29/2022 at 9:45 PM, gimruis said: What a lot of southerners don’t realize here is that it’s hot here in the summer. And humid. Very humid. Like uninhabitable humid at times. Come to South Florida in August and fish a whole day in the direct sun and you will know what extreme heat and humidity feels like. I have done it for years, it is not easy but it is worth it since certain species of fish bite very well during this time. You have to make sure to drink lots of water, eat well, and take breaks when needed. On top of that all that snow that needs to be removed from the driveway every day, that is not the type of weather I would enjoy. Yes snow can be pretty but not something I want to see for more than a couple of days. 1 Quote
Way north bass guy Posted February 2, 2022 Author Posted February 2, 2022 Well, for the first time since pretty much Christmas Day, it got up above freezing here. It’s still a LONG way from open water, but it sure did feel nice to lean against the side of the barn and soak up some actual warmth from the sun this afternoon. 1 Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted February 2, 2022 Super User Posted February 2, 2022 Supposed to be in the 40*'s the next three days. Should be good snowmelt weather. 1 Quote

Way north bass guy Posted February 5, 2022 Author Posted February 5, 2022 Like a lot of you guys on the other side of the Great Lakes, we’re also getting another couple day round of chilly weather. Supposed to hit -30 here tonight. I spent an hour this afternoon breaking some trails with my sled, so they’ll be froze up for tomorrow morning, and after a big breakfast, I’m gonna spend a few hours and cut down and split a few dead standing trees to add to the firewood pile. Nothing like a good tree felling and chopping excursion on a cold clear day to open up the lungs a bit! Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted February 11, 2022 Super User Posted February 11, 2022 Dangerously cold wind chills will return to northern Michigan this weekend after a cold front swings through the area. Wind chills of 20 to 30 below zero are expected across interior areas of northern lower both tonight and Saturday night. Tis the season A-Jay Quote
Super User LrgmouthShad Posted February 11, 2022 Super User Posted February 11, 2022 Dang! Was hoping some areas in the farther North were getting the same good luck we are having here. Feel absolutely blessed Will be going fishing at a hole in the ice today and tomorrow. Went Wednesday for a little, didn't get anything and dont care. Just wanted to soak up the sunshine and enjoy. Way north bass guy Posted February 11, 2022 Author Posted February 11, 2022 Like everyone else in the North, we’re supposed to get some pretty cool weather this weekend into next week ( highs of around -15c, lows around -25c), and today is a warm, snowy mess of a day. It does look like things are starting to warm up a bit later next week, and the average is slowly creeping upwards. Today is a “paperwork day” for me, so while it’s terrible looking outside, I can still at least watch someone enjoy a nice day on the water?. 1 Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted February 11, 2022 Super User Posted February 11, 2022 We may get close to 60* tomorrow, then 2-4" of snow and mid-20*'s on Sunday and Monday. Next week back to the 50*'s. Kind of crazy for February....C'MON SPRING! Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted February 14, 2022 Super User Posted February 14, 2022 We're supposed to get another round of snow mid week. I guess it's payback for that warm December. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted February 15, 2022 Super User Posted February 15, 2022 Will be 50 here tomorrow and somewhere between 0 and 2 feet of snow on Thursday depending on what time the rain ends and the snow begins. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted February 19, 2022 Super User Posted February 19, 2022 We've been in this wierd pattern of 60* (record for February for us) followed by overnight lows in the teens. The cold aire from the mid-west has made it's way over and we'll get snow squalls all day. It's only amounting to a dusting, but sheesh, let's just dive into spring. Quote

This morning I woke up to 50mph northwest winds, snow blowing sideways and we have drifts over 3’ in our driveway. Had to help push a neighbour up his driveway before I even had breakfast. Once the wind lays down a bit I’ll go out and begin “ the cleanup” ? 2 Quote
