Pulled the Nike gym shorts out of the drawer today.  Supposed to get up to near 80 this week.  Common knowledge around here is that we aren’t out of the winter woods til Mothers Day.

That’s pretty standard about anywhere, but most people forget every single year and make statements like “I’ve never seen it this cold this late”

then you look up actual data and it was that cold that late every year for the last few decades

it happens with TVA lakes every year twice a year also, “I’ve never seen the water this high in my whole life” and “I’ve never seen the water this low in my whole life……” Guess what, it’s that low and that high every year

Plus, it seems we get a "500 year flood" every 5 years or so.

Yes!!! I’m so glad you said that, I say the exact same sentence all the time.

people that record weather closely don’t have a good memory

There is a massive low pressure system coming out of the Rockies this week and heading northeast.  Rapid City all the way up to Winnipeg is projected to receive 16-24 inches of snow, with the bullseye from Bismarck to Grand Forks.  That is a lot of snow for April, even in the north.

Here in the Twin Cities we are expecting mostly rain, with a possible "coating" of snow on Thursday morning.  The last 3 weeks we've had a system like this roll through midweek.  It starts as rain and finishes as light snow that is melted off in a few hours.

Guess who is working in Grand Forks this week?  Summerized my snowmobiles this weekend...but perhaps I should have dragged them up here so I could "get around". :P

LOL!  Yup, every year in late January "they" say we're going to have a drought. And then we get hammered by nonstop rain and flooding for the next 3 months. It's like clockwork.  I mean, every year!

As for the snow we're getting now, while not a first, it is the first time measurable snowfall has occurred this late in over 80 years.

It looks like the storm track shifted a little north and west.  Grand Forks isn't supposed to get as much snow now.  The bullseye is from Dickinson to Minot and Devils Lake now.  Minot still says 20-30 inches of snow LOL

Haha.  20 degrees seems cold for mid April but its really not that far from average.

Looks significantly warmer in about a week.  50's and 60's.

Snow/hail again today, just like it's been every day for 2 weeks now.  WX records are breaking every day with new low temps and snowfall.

Unbelievable.  Normally it's 55-65 degrees this time of year.  We're about 20 below average right now.

If it weren't for the calendar, you'd think it's January.

The fishing has been extremely tough, to say the least!

Complete mess up this way ~ Cold & snow for 3 days -

Lakes are still frozen over

with little signs of relief on the horizon.

It’s  going to be gorgeous the next couple of days then the rains come in on Tuesday. Just planted grass yesterday so the timing for rain is perfect! :)

Sorry to hear that @A-Jay, you must be chomping at the bit by now.

While we do have open water down here I’m getting very annoyed with the temps only getting up to the upper 30’s low 40’s. The few days it’s been ‘warm’ it’s extremely windy and rain. We’re looking at warmer temperatures this week, but of course very windy and rain. ?
