scrutch Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 I'm researching boat insurance companies in lieu of buying my first bass boat in a couple of weeks. Checked Progressive so far. Homeowners and auto is with them...(multi-policy discount)...any other recommendations? ...or warnings? Quote
Adam G Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 I use Progressive currently. Setup was easy, rates are fine, no claims yet. ;D I went away from our homeowner's/auto broker due to their lack of commitment with marine. Good choice for me so far. 18' Fisher Pro Hawk with a Merc 90 FYI. They included electronics and tackle for coverage as well. Quote
fisher of bass Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 i use progressive, world wide marine, 1-517-627-8080, talk to bobby, he'll explain everything to you, good people, jmo Quote
Super User slonezp Posted February 27, 2010 Super User Posted February 27, 2010 I have State Farm. My suggestion to you with insurance is make sure your policy has the coverage you need. The lienholder of the boat requires X amount of coverage. You want to make sure you have coverage for all the add-ons, rods, tackle, etc. You want coverage for an on the water accident and if your boat gets broken into. Also verify if your involved in a traffic accident while trailering does your auto or boat insurance pick it up. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted February 27, 2010 Super User Posted February 27, 2010 Using the company that you have other policies with is a good idea. You won't be treated like a stranger should you have a claim. Quote
goodolboy Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 I have been with USAA for over 40 years and when I called them to insure my boat they recommended Progressive because their reseach led them to believe Pogressive could not be beat. Quote
Hot Rod Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 If you plan on fishing tournaments make sure the policy covers you while in a tourney. Some don't. I have progressive and my policy covers tournies. Its a good price too I'm thinking of adding protection for my gear too, which is an optiong with progressive. I added up how much my gear cost that I've accumulated over the years.... Dang! I hate to have to replace it out of pocket, ouch. Quote
BobDaBassGuy Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Another Progressive user here. Quick online payment and setup and the rates were real reasonable. I didn't do much comparison shopping but of the two other companies I called, Progressive was cheaper. Plus I have my vehicles insured through them as well. Quote
Jim Grouch Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Another vote for Bob at Worldwide Marine http://www.worldwidemarineins.com/ He knows his stuff and there are quite a few BR members that use him. Very reasonable rates. -Jim Quote
