Justbass11 Posted October 18, 2021 Posted October 18, 2021 I have been using Pline fore awhile now but was wondering about using Sufix. Anyone have any thoughts??? Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted October 18, 2021 Super User Posted October 18, 2021 Haven't tried P-Line - but I've been very happy with the 832...only line I've tried that's better is Smackdown. 1 Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted October 18, 2021 Super User Posted October 18, 2021 I assume your talking about mono. I have successfully converted over to Sufix Advance. I have been very pleased with the performance in all categories. It's supple, less stretchy and very strong. It does run bigger in diameter than the stated poundage so I just buy by diameter size or downsize to the next offered size. I'll buy their 17lb when I want to replace 20lb in another brand. 2 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted October 18, 2021 Super User Posted October 18, 2021 Stopped using P-Line CXX years ago. Currently use Sunline Deifer Armillo. Sufix Advance is over size diameter line, Big Game is a better choice imo. Tom 1 1 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted October 18, 2021 Super User Posted October 18, 2021 It depends on which lines in their catalog you are comparing. I would choose the following..... 832 over PLines braid.... There are better options though. Sufix Elite is slightly better Floroclear but in Floroclear you should go one diameter thicker in the comparative poundage. Pline Florocarbon over the Sufix equivalent. I didn't care for Pline Halo or Sufix Advance lines. Sufix Seige is also good line. 2 1 Quote

The Advance is much limper. The over size diameter makes no difference if you just buy it accordingly. I agree big game is the most inexpensive of the three. 1 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted October 18, 2021 Super User Posted October 18, 2021 I only use 11# Armillo for my top water lures and used 25 lb Armillo for my Swimbaits before selling nearly everything. Didn’t have any memory issues? Tom 1 Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted October 18, 2021 Super User Posted October 18, 2021 I spooled 10# P-Line Fluoroclear on a reel I took for a visit to Florida with my in-laws. When I got back to the house after the first day of fishing with it, I put a different reel on the rod. (I always carry at least one extra). Broke way too easy. First line I used when I got into baitcasters was 8# CX. Handles very nice, but it did break down in the spool. I figure it was most likely due to the backlashes I got while learning, but have been leery of using the rest of the filler spool. Guess I'll try the rest. See if it holds up better now that I don't backlash very often. I like Elite. Only have it on one baitcast reel, but use a lot of Siege in 8# and 12# tests. Like it a lot. Especially in the Neon Tangerine. Makes it much easier to see my line. 1 Quote

I have some of their Natural Orange Mono in 8# spooled up right now on a spinning rig that I'm going to have to replace for the same reasons. Worst memory issues of any mono I've ever used. 1 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 19, 2021 Global Moderator Posted October 19, 2021 Not sure what Pline you're using but the Sufix Advance is very nice line. It does have a bigger diameter than most lines so I'd suggest going a size smaller than what you're looking for if you decide to try it. Like the 10lb Sufix has a thicker diameter than 13lb of the Deifer Armillo that Tom is suggesting. 1 1 Quote

I used P-Line cx for years, then realized it had no real advantages in real-world conditions over Berkley Trilene XL. In my humble opinion however, Berkley Sensation is superior to all three. The P-Line cx was thin for lb/test, had good knot strength, was fairly limp. Same for the Sufix. Same for the Berkley Trilene. 1 Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted October 19, 2021 Super User Posted October 19, 2021 *P-Line FloroClear is known to break fairly easy - curious if going from say #12 lb. normally used to #15 lb. would perform any better with less breakage ? Quote

Why even entertain the idea? The mental gymnastics of fishing the line knowing you’re sitting on a 3 lb “cushion” that may or may not exist every time you set the hook would be hell. Short answer - I had both tests; they both broke randomly. Avoid the line ? 2 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 19, 2021 Global Moderator Posted October 19, 2021 I like Pline, but fluoroclear is junk. 3 Quote
Hulkster Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 Sufix Siege is the best all around mono I have ever used and I have used most of them at one time or another over the years. 1 Quote
Born 2 fish Posted October 20, 2021 Posted October 20, 2021 I’ve Been using suffix seige and I’m really happy with it. 1 Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted October 22, 2021 Super User Posted October 22, 2021 The only P-Line I have ever used was Floroclear and that stuff had horrible memory. I have used Sufix Siege for a few years now and that is really good line, the memory isn't too terrible and a little KVD line spray now and then and it's good to go. I used Advance this year, and other than a random break off, that's been otherwise solid too. Quote
thediscochef Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 I'm partial to 4 carrier braid personally, my most recent discovery has been the Yo-Zuri super braid 20#. very quiet and retains color very well. I use the yellow, the blue, and the green. I use green P-line Flouroclear as a leader either in 10, 12, or 20 pound variety depending on location. It's my absolute favorite leader material, but I would never spool it as a mainline. That seems like a recipe for a very frustrating day. The breakage hasn't really been a problem for me unless I rush my knot tying or cast with a compromised leader. I use double uni and palomar knots and it holds just as well as any fluoro or mono I've tried. The only time I use true fluoro is when I'm fishing rock piles. I've not tried any of the P-line braid but the Yo-Zuri has effectively ended my search for braid at the moment after trying several others. 832 is very good, my favorite among the 8 carrier lines that I've used.
