LCG Posted October 16, 2021 Posted October 16, 2021 5/16oz war eagle finnese in white/chartruesse has been my go and it has caught a lot of fish, including a 43" pike that weighed around 18lbs. Tons of largemouth as well. Now I can't find them locally. Quote
Super User Log Catcher Posted October 16, 2021 Super User Posted October 16, 2021 I like the War Eagle Screaming Eagle in 1/2 ounce. Spot Remover and Mouse are my favorite colors. Depending on conditions I some use one that has double Colorado blades. Usually both of them will be silver. Quote

Sure, offer something completely different, but something tells me your bread and butter will be from chart/white sales. Quote

My buddy who helps me make baits sometimes has been on me about making a Chart/white bait. I semi-agreed and started making one I call classic twist. Its Chart/white but with blue iridescent so it is not a common color. This weekend I am going to see what all baits I have made for sale at the winter shows. Tonight I clear coated 74 spinnerbait heads that should be dry in about 3 days. Looks like I need to make more Chart/white and solid white baits going forward. Allen Quote
Super User LrgmouthShad Posted October 17, 2021 Super User Posted October 17, 2021 Still experimenting so much with this. 3/8oz probably Color.... white with silver scale, blue glimmer, solid chartreuse. Super User islandbass Posted October 17, 2021 Super User Posted October 17, 2021 I can’t help on colors but I find it interesting that what I found works best for me is like many here as already been stated. Chartreuse and white for some reason is just a killer and nothing in my local lakes resembles it. If I made spinnerbaits and I hope to soon, I’d be making variation of these tried and true colors and color combinations with some type of reflective flashabou scattered about. So perhaps take the white/chart combo and had a blue or red flashabou. If even try a white silicon or rubber skirt material with a a chartreuse or lime greenish flashabou. The combinations are practically endless. Since I have perch, blue gill and pumpkinseed in my bass lakes, I’d also try to make relative close ideas of them. 3/8 oz and also double willow seems to be my most effective and productive blade combination with a larger willow and smaller Colorado blade being second. I would also experiment with French blades. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted October 17, 2021 Author Super User Posted October 17, 2021 So here's my version of chartreuse/white with a twist. In both the paint and skirt is blue iridescent. Fishing a lot of clear water I like natural colors and am a big fan of the iridescents that pop in sunlight. The other bait is one that I have been using all year with great success. What I way trying for was the most natural color for a baitfish. Figured I would try to make a more natural shad color than War Eagles Mouse. The skirt tabs are one of the exclusive colors that are supposed to match Keitech baits. I just need to figure out which one this is as I took all the tabs out of the original packaging. fin Posted October 17, 2021 Posted October 17, 2021 Pretty simple - pearl white on bottom, gray/blue shimmer on top. That style of skirt seems to make a difference too. I've played around with a lot of different colors on spinnerbaits making my own skirts, and this works way better than anything I ever came up with, at least on the lake I fish. Quote

Got them in the mail yesterday and am excited to give them a try. I’m typically a strike king spinnerbait guy and usually in a 1/2 oz. I trust my buddy quite a bit so I’m guessing these won’t disappoint me at all. Now I wish I wouldn't have recommended these to you. Not that they are a bad bait...they are actually very nice and run true. My problem is I shouldn't be suggesting spinnerbaits to anybody because as of late I can't catch a fish on one...wonder if they even work anymore. Quote
Super User gim Posted October 18, 2021 Super User Posted October 18, 2021 3/8 ounce original Terminator. The one that has the titanium frame. Its a discontinued lure now but I’ve still got several including 3 still in the packaging. The combination of vibration and durability is superior to any other spinner bait. As for colors, I like white with gold Oklahoma blades. But I have done very well this season using a black version. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 18, 2021 Global Moderator Posted October 18, 2021 1/2oz white or chartreuse and white with any of the blade combinations but I usually lean towards gold or copper blades, especially hammered ones. Quote
Super User scaleface Posted October 19, 2021 Super User Posted October 19, 2021 Even though I use a half ounce bait the blades are smaller than normal .The main blade is a 4.5 willow . There is no standard size between manufacturers , my blades came from netcraft . The front Colorado is a size 2 I believe . In the spring I go up a size . I have no trouble keeping the bait high . huZZah Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 3/8 sexy shad. Single Colorado or tandem with willow. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted October 19, 2021 Super User Posted October 19, 2021 White or white and chartreuse 1/2 and 3/4 oz. I like to be able to change blades out. The only company that I've seen makes them so you change the front blade was Secret Weapon, but they aren't around anymore. Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted October 19, 2021 Super User Posted October 19, 2021 As you know, I build my own. So I can build differently than off the shelf, but I do fish a spinnerbait a good bit. Weight: 3/8, 1/2, 3/4oz plus hardware Colors: Natural clearer baitfish color, white/black/chart, and bluegill based colors Blades: I like 3 or 3.5 Colorado's for my kicker (I'll swap to an Indiana here if I'm burning the bait), and then I'll adjust my main blade to how I'm fishing the bait and where it needs to be in the water column. I prefer a bigger Indiana blade or a Mag Willow over a large Colorado for the main blade whenever I need some thump. Quote
Functional Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 Booyah Counter Strike in 3/8 with either double willow or willow/colorado combo in Booyah Shad or Silver Scale White. Sometimes Ill thread in a few strands of red on the belly side and I'll use a zoom fluke or paddle tail cut to length/size as a trailer. Been working for me in stained and clear water and year round. Never had luck with chartreuse and white in any type of water. Quote

bigspirit Posted November 13, 2021 Posted November 13, 2021 @Munkin, do you sell other than in person shows? Love the looks of your spinnerbaits and the colors. If able, I would love to hear info on if you take orders and lead times and such Quote
papajoe222 Posted November 13, 2021 Posted November 13, 2021 Nice work. I really like the firetiger and Tenn. Shad colors. Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted November 13, 2021 Super User Posted November 13, 2021 May sound weird, but I'd like to try a double willow spinnerbait 1/2 oz in a rainbow trout pattern. If Allen or anyone would care to make one, or 2, I'd be more than happy to compensate you. Quote
