Launched my kayak at 1st light.  Fussed with bait choices last minute.   The one bait I did have tied on was a t-rigged large TRD zman. I pitched it out far. A couple of reels-in and I thought my eyes were playing tricks .  My line was trembling.  Then it moved.  I snap back and it was early morning excitement. No coffee needed to knock the sleep off.  It was the most gentle bait swallow of my life.

my tiny neighbor hood lake had a 4lb fish.

oh funny story.  My friend bought Curado BFS and paired it with a Phenix recon 6’8”. He insisted I take first cast. I said “no”. He wouldn’t let up so I took his rod and let the tiny jerk bait fly. Rod felt too stiff for me. Well I proceeded to bury his brand new reel under an epic backlash.  It was not salvageable. Haha.   I caught the yard sale on my GoPro.  Cussing (me) and laughing (him).

the fish.

Agreed on the fish, but I want to see a pic of the professional overrun, lol.

Haha.  I just downloaded the vid. I’ll see if I can pull up a still image.

Don’t go through too much trouble. I can relate. To make a long story short, i was fishing for trout once and only had one bass rig. I give the guy next to me because he asked, the scoop on how to use bc reels. I was so confident in my teaching skills that he’d get it right in his first cast. He was reluctant but I insisted and he acquiesced. He makes the cast. It was awesome. Unfortunately, as many who come from a spinning background, just can’t make the timing change and he was no different. The cast was followed by that dreaded sound, thwrrruppp!

The birds nest was so bad that I had to call it a day. My fault, and I should have taken a picture, lol. Lesson learned. Never teach a newbie how to use a bc setup if it’s the only one you have on you, lol.
