Hey there, thought I'd share the combo I chose based on all of you guys, met a really nice guy selling a used dobyns fury swimbajt rod for  $10 and a abu garcia ambassadeur  s600cl rocket 6:3:1 made in sweeden for 30, budget 40 dollar combo for a college kid.

Small 2-3 ounce ones like gantarel Jr's, 6 inch Huds, s wavers

that would work for it just fine, good choice and saving money. I have two combos for swimbaits, the one for 6" and s-wavwer is Curado XXH 8' rod with Curado DC 150 size.

Gotta b honest, I wonder what kind of abuse/contact that Fury suffered. $10 is crazy

If I get one trip out of it; it's paid for itself lmao

You done good. I’m using an old Browning Vectra flippin’ stick and an Abu 4601c4 that I had layin’ around. It works, just barely.  The reel’s fine, but I need a real swimbait rod. No $10 deal around here.

Holy hell. I thought I did good buying my Fury 795 on sale last month for $99 from Academy. That's a great deal.

Can't speak for the rod but that reel will do a great job at that gear ratio for the baits you're throwing.

Mounting a reel onto a rod is assembling a rod and reel combo, not building it!

Yeah went out today, threw them a mile and wasn't to slow or too fast, it's comfortable to palm and the rod doesn't feel overpowered by the baits.

Putting a tomato stake in the ground isn’t growing tomatoes.
