I was fishing a 3/8 oz War Eagle with a 3.75 Rage Swimmer trailer when I didn't notice that my line wrapped around the tip of my Champion XP with a Shimano SLX XT when I jerked the bait out of veggies near the shoreline. I went to cast again and instead of the bait flying off into the distance my rod jerked out of my hand. It somehow, someway, helicopter spinned above my head and I caught it in mid air with finesse like Thor catching his hammer. Pure talent, guys.

Glad you caught it.

I've done that same type of deal a few times.

Usually it because I knocked the rig out of my own hand on the cast or something similar.

Fish fingers may have been a contributing factor.

Either way, it's not a Thor type feeling for me, more like a first class spazoid.

Afterwards, while trying to play it off and look like Joe Cool, I do the old 'look around'

to see if anyone saw what had to look like a full body wretch.

:hammer:

My biggest concern with tip wraps is that I'll get bit if the lure is still in the water. Good way to break a rod tip when you instinctively set the hook.

Once or twice I've literally just chucked my rod into the lake by accident. It looked more Billy Madison than Thor, though.

I’ll bet your face didn’t look like Thor for a few seconds there. ??

me and a buddy were racing to get our kayaks in the water and fish against eachother...in my haste I got all harry potter with my rod movements and let a spinnerbait rip. Well I heard a snap and watched as my favorite spinnerbait launched across the pond and into a bunch of bushes up a steep bank. I looked for 15 minutes and couldnt find it and my buddy beat me. Was a sad day. Tip wraps sucks.
