I grew up in north Alabama next to Tennessee River, and countless creeks feeding it.  Then I moved to Maryland near the Potomac, Shenandoah, and a number of smaller rivers and creeks.   There have been very few days in 50+ years that there has not been fishing gear in my car or truck for that spur-of-the-moment stop or trip to the water.  And always enough gear for at least two people.  On more than one occasion while on a bridge or driving alongside a river, a passenger would comment something like “that looks like a nice place to fish”, or “I always wanted to fish that creek”.  I’ve shocked quite a few guys with “today’s your lucky day”.

When I lived in Nc. I had a spinning rod and a little back pack I kept in the truck. Here in Fl. I don’t, the heat really works on the gear here. Plastics get all funky, skirts on spinners matting up. The line gets so much memory it looks like a corkscrew.
When I travel I’ll throw a rig with my back pack in the truck.

Not generally for bass fishing. Bass is more like let’s hook up the trailer and head to the river or lake. During the time I fish for trout that’s a different story. Have myself prepared to spin fish or fly fish at any given time. I’ll trout fish before work (get there late) and after work on my way home. It’s an everyday type of thing.

My wife works for an accounting firm, during tax season they are late and put in a lot of hours. This is the height of my trout time. Have nobody to go home to. Kids are long grown and been out of the house. Unless I have something pressing, which happens, I have a lot of trout time. And love it.

I always keep fly fishing gear and an ultralight spinning or BFS outfit and tackle in the back of my car.  But I can't remember the last time I've used it...  ?

On that day you are really feeling it, get out. Rewarding in many ways. Good for the mind and soul and most likely you’ll have the whole place to yourself.

I know I get on the trout tangents once and awhile, but not that there is not a love and passion for bass. Stocked, wild or native trouts just a different game.

Nope. I don't just happen to run across places that are public fishing areas. Everything around here is on private property and I refuse to trespass. I have friends that will jump the fence in a heartbeat and fish a pond they don't have permission to fish. I will not do that. If I am going fishing, I know where I am going and I plan accordingly.

it comes with lifestyle, I myself have nothing to do at all. either I work for money or I have nothing to do. So what is better than fishing. As I mentioned I am ready in my truck because no matter where I am ill be ready to accept anyones invitation to go for catching any fish :)
