Chet C Posted October 2, 2021 Posted October 2, 2021 in the market for a 7 to 7 1/2 ft spinning rod for 1 /8 to 1/4oz keitechs baits, my son and i were fishing yesterday and i tried his Tatula 7 1/2 foot rod, nice rod and with 8lb J braid it works well, so i am after a similar rod and as light or lighter in weight, i did have a new rod in 7 1/2 ft a few weeks ago had it for a day and sent it back was too heavy at the tip, what are some rods in the length i am after that don't feel tip heavy other than the Tatula. without going over the 150 dollar mark. chet Quote

Finessegenics Posted October 2, 2021 Posted October 2, 2021 What size are those keitechs? Are you leaning more towards ML or M? Personally, I’d suggest the Mojo Bass from St Croix. Not the lightest when looking at specs, but they balance well in hand. At least that’s the case for the me but things like the way you grip the rod and the reel which is paired with the rod will affect the “tip-heaviness”. So it’s hard to make a claim about anything. They have a 7’1 M/F and a 7’6 ML/XF which are both 4.1 oz. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted October 2, 2021 Super User Posted October 2, 2021 You might take a look at the St. Croix Mojo Yak rod. It does have a shorter handle but it has the type of tip you're after. The tip on these rods are soft but not as soft as a Moderate action rod. They load easy and cast a long way, which makes them ideal for kayaks. I am not a huge fan of the Winn grips though. The 7' ML should cover those weights. Quote

Those 40T Torray blanks are sweet, and Fuji K guides. That said, Dobyns warranty and replacement program is awesome. I broke a Sierra and sent the required rod piece in. I had my replacement Kaden on my porch four days after Dobyns recieved it, and the girls there were GREAT to deal with. Customer service doesn't get any better. Very happy with my Sierra and Kadens too, especially the Kadens. 2 Quote

A close second would be the warranty since I'm a kayak and bank angler. It's so comforting knowing that my investments are mostly protected from mishaps that happen on the banks and while loading and unloading the kayak and transporting the gear in a not so safe way. I take my capable body fishing while I can. Quote
