I damaged the top guide on my TP1 casting rod. I couldn't find a direct tip replacement but I think these are close...

Does anyone know which micro top is used, or rod black diameters / ring ID I'd need? Unfortunately I don't have a caliper to measure my rod.

Thank you.

Call lews

I did, they don't sell tips, and are making me fill out a warranty form. I explained to them the rod is out of warranty and I just want replace the top guide. I get the impression I have to fill out the form and someone in repairs has to see it and reply with information. Meh, I'll have to get some calipers.

I picked up some calipers and took measurements. Should be all set to order the correct rod tip.

In case anyone searches for a Lews TP1 rod tip and finds this thread, the ID is 5mm for the guide ring, and the tube diameter for the rod is .078" at the tip and tapers up to .009". Tube diameter to order would be between a 5 and 6. I'll be ordering a 5.5 and a 6 just to be safe, they're $2 each.

I take the tip, place a little drop of super glue down the hole.  Then I put a little bit of the hot glue where I slide the tip top on.  I slide the tip on over the hot glue.  Then I put more hot glue around the tip.    While the glue is still hot, s l o w l y rotate the rod in a circle, with the tip face towards the floor, so the glue spread out evenly.  The I take an ice cube, and use that to move the glue and cool it down.  Then you leave it for a while so the glue can set up.   I have replaced 5-6 rods doing this, and you can't even tell the tips been replaced.
