Super User Darth-Baiter Posted September 26, 2021 Super User Posted September 26, 2021 Today was a surprise cold front. Well, the morning was cold. I kept putting my hands in the lake to warm them. started at 6;30 am when the park ranger opens the gate. 10:30 - 11:00 and I’m cold, hungry and well into a skunk. It was so grassy. I worked the problem. Swim baits, swim jigs, wacky worm, etc. I even punched. Nothing. Teeth chattering I rigged up yet another offering. This time a 4” SENKO, weightless Tex-rig. I let it fly and sink into the grass. Twitch….Bam. I 3.5lb fish spun my kayak around but I won. And that was it. The missing piece of the puzzle. It was game on. I even let my friend know the secret code and we got into them. So much fun! 26 Quote
schplurg Posted October 7, 2021 Posted October 7, 2021 Never give up is good advice! Can be tough to heed sometimes. 2020 was my worst year and I didn't catch anything at all for a few months! Tough area but still. I persisted and finally figured stuff out. It was demoralizing but that fist catch made it worth it. 2 Quote
The Baron Posted October 9, 2021 Posted October 9, 2021 It’s crazy that such a small change in your bait can turn your day around. 1 Quote
GRiver Posted October 10, 2021 Posted October 10, 2021 Change in bait and change in weather. One time I fished all evening, looked like rain…. You know when you feel the temp drop. Five minutes after I felt the temp drop, I got a bite. Turned and fished the same area, with a same bait and started catching fish. Your right, don’t give up. 1 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted October 13, 2021 Super User Posted October 13, 2021 If the fishing is tough and the weather is bad then giving up is an easy decision to make . If the fishing is tough and its a nice day then keep on keeping on .Maybe luck will change maybe not . Its just good to be fishing . Quote
DaubsNU1 Posted October 13, 2021 Posted October 13, 2021 Man, you just never know. I've been logging my fishing trips since 1992...tried for a long time to track patterns and "crack-the-code." There are just so many variables...sometimes it is hard to get a pattern going. Wind, clouds, weather, barometric pressure, air temp, water temp, water clarity, grass/moss/weeds/algae... I to have some tried and true patterns for certain lakes, but some days even those do not work. Hats off to you @Darth-Baiter for sticking in there and finding a way! Nice work!! Quote
Chris Catignani Posted October 13, 2021 Posted October 13, 2021 Glad it worked out... It seems like those days where the fishing is slow is the day you catch a good one. Quote
