PressuredFishing Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 So I noticed that the zoom super fluke comes in three sizes, the 4, 5.25, and 7, and the 4 inch and 5.25 come with the same amount of 10. Now the standard zoom fluke comes in 10 as well in 4 inch for 2.50 compared to 4.50, the rate the super Flukes are. An I missing something? Is it a color thing or scent/flavor thing? Thanks 4 ur time. If I want 4 inch Flukes should I just rock the standard fluke for 2.50? Quote
Russ E Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 They are different baits. Only time I use a fluke is finesse fishing like a drop shot or weightless nose hooking. Also as a chatterbait trailer. I use the super fluke a lot. It is the better option if you are fishing it weedless with an offset or ewg hook. Not sure where you are buying them, but bass pro usually has the super fluke for around $2.50 in the store. Not sure about online. 4 Quote

(another forbidden seller?) good information, I think im going to pick more up in the 5 inch because I really like using them as soft plastic jerkbaits, I have fallen in love with a color called disco violet, its nice in the clear water. I was thinking about maybe using the 4 inch version if the bass dont want the bigger profile of the 5.25, but I would need to switch to spinning gear I think if fished weightless. I think your idea of using them on a dropshot could be fun to experiment with, because I have quite a few of the 3" flukes that look really good, I think I use the standard worm too much in certain situations. padon Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 Russ nailed it.they are different baits. look closely the fluke has more of a minnow profile tapers from top to bottom. good dropshot bait in smaller sizes and nose hooked like a jerk bait. for a weedless jerk bait the super fluke with a bulkier profile and hook slot is much easier to rig straight and fish. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 22, 2021 Global Moderator Posted September 22, 2021 I fished the 6th Sense Flush for the first time this past weekend and really liked it. My biggest gripe with flukes (other than they're painfully boring to fish), is about half of them are kinked and unfishable. Not an issue with the Flush. 3 Quote

That sounds awesome, I hate boiling or microwaving plastics to get them strait again as well, if 6th sense has a good locking color I'll get it. One thing I like about zooms is there are alot of different colors. My favorite is disco violet, which is clear, smoking shad, which is shad, and a uper sparkly silver for when bass are schooling, plus whites are always good or the pro blue red pearls Quote

I just checked on Flush, and I think it looks great. Do you use an underspin with it, and what's your favorite color? Spinning or casting? 1 Quote

Just picked up some sexy shad , but haven’t tried them yet. 1 Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted September 23, 2021 Super User Posted September 23, 2021 Me personally, I only throw the Yamamoto DShad. I’ve just gotten so used to the action and fall rate, I can’t use anything else. Same plastic and formula as a Senko. They aren’t cheap but well worth the coin. 1 Quote

I like the shad colors, don't really care which one. I use spinning but you could use casting. 2 Quote

Dont mean to hijack OP's thread but since we're talking D Shads... I tried the D-Shad's last season and they just didn't perform the same way the super flukes did. I don't know if it's the way I work the bait but I just dont get as good of a "slash" with the D-Shads compared to super flukes. I thought the D-Shad and similar baits (like the Caffeine Shad) were designed to be alternatives to a senko. They have that similar quiver to a Senko when you just let them fall on semi-slack line. Am I missing something? Quote

I like zooms the most, other than the tails being bent sometimes, they just have good colors and work Quote

But I imagine they would be pretty effective because of the senko-like quiver on the tail. I believe a super fluke on a dropshot would have a similar action as well. The thing is the D-Shads have a "spade" tail while the super flukes have a forked tail, but both have hook slots. So, there is a slight difference in that sense, which could affect the action. 1 Quote

Super User TOXIC Posted September 24, 2021 Super User Posted September 24, 2021 I don’t dropshot a DShad. My preferred rigging is Texas with a 4.0 EWG. I fish it a couple of ways. First like a soft jerkbait which is casting to open water and twitching the bait back in a walk the dog fashion. The faster the retrieve and how I position the hook will set the depth it runs and if it climbs or drops on the jerk. I will throw it in heavy vegetation and let it sink in the open spots or work it across the top and finally, I have dead stacked it and dragged it drift fishing for smallmouth. It is one of my favorite baits and I always have one rigged up on a dedicated rod/reel. 1 Quote
throttleplate Posted September 25, 2021 Posted September 25, 2021 bought some zoom super flukes last week and used them today on a texas rig and a dropshot and caught a nice smallmouth and a handful of bass. Wife also caught bass and pike on the super fluke. This was the first time i ever used flukes and the only color in stock was white with silver flakes but i wanted shiners color which is white and black so i took a magic marker and put some black on its sides and gave it some eyeballs and it caught me all my fish today. 1 Quote
