Super User Darth-Baiter Posted September 20, 2021 Super User Posted September 20, 2021 Arrgh. I have an order pending. I want a specific worm in morning dawn. Back ordered. as I wait other things sell out and go on back order. Haha. So funny and frustrating all at once. Trying to maximize my purchase to save shipping and maximize efficiency in general. Super User MN Fisher Posted September 20, 2021 Super User Posted September 20, 2021 I rarely order from TW anymore because of their back-order policy. Plus I can find prices as good or even better at other places. 4 Quote
schplurg Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 I have discovered new online outlets thanks to Covid. I ordered a rod from a shop in Minnesota I'd never heard of, Fenwick HMG, because they were the only ones who had them in stock at the time. Kayak, I drove a few hundred miles to get it "now" rather than 3 months later, and without hundreds in shipping. Took some online searching to find it too. My food store hasn't had pot pies for a month! Probably better for me that way anyways. Quote

Sounds like Scheels - which is based here and concentrated in the upper-midwest, but has some store-fronts more south...one in Texas even. Scheels and Fleet Farm have become my new main sources of tackle. When I can get InvizX for $20 a spool and that's the regular price... Quote

Had to look it up. It was Joe's Sporting Goods. I called them first and made sure they really had it, then checked them out online for happy customers. They're legit and the service was great. I did a Google shopping search until I found a store with it. For the kayak, I went to Old Town's site and pulled up a map of local retailers. I had to check each stores inventory, gradually working farther and farther from my home. It took some time, but I found it! 3 Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted September 21, 2021 Super User Posted September 21, 2021 Oh ya - Joe's is an 'old timer' around here. One location only...it's a 'mom and pop shop' done good in the age of the Internet. 2 Quote
Captain Phil Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 My experience with Tackle Warehouse has only been with two orders. So far, they have been good. Their website tells you if an item is in stock before you buy, so it shouldn't be a surprise. Shortages are everywhere these days. My wife told me she can't find pickles at the store? Since when do pickles come from China? My last purchase from Tackle warehouse was a Shimano Curado MGL and a Zodias rod. Both were in stock and arrived within a week. My first order was some Z-man Jackhammers. They weren't in stock, I knew it and I got them three weeks later. 1 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 21, 2021 Super User Posted September 21, 2021 Tackle Warehouse has been my main store for decades. Selection, customer service and prices are outstanding. 3 Quote
Dens228 Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 TW's shipping is also back to normal. As far as pickles, they have plenty of pickles, no truck drivers willing to transport them, or many other things too. My son is a driver for FedEx. He does pick ups from businesses. They are so short on drivers his managers are always begging him to add to his hours and do some residential deliveries either before or after his regular hours and on Saturdays. He kept doing it until he was getting 70 hours/wk. He loads and unloads his own truck(s) so it makes for some long days and weeks. Quote
ironbjorn Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 Tackle Warehouse had problems for the first time that I can ever recall... During the height of COVID-19... As did everyone else. They weren't unique in that, nor were they at fault. I've always done overnight shipping with them because I'm impatient and because you always get your stuff when you're supposed to by doing so. That said, most of the time I take the 90 minute drive down to ALF. It's so worth it. Quote

There price structure is now more similar to BPS, especially when you look at the prices on Rage stuff and others. Sieberts normal rage prices are great compared. It pays to shop around now. Holiday orders for me come from 3 to 4 stores including TW. The days of TW covering my full order are sadly likely over. Quote

There price structure is now more similar to BPS I wouldn't say that at all. BPS has a 10% or better markup on most products. Decoys that cost 70$ will cost 85 or 90$. BPS has some sketchy advertising as well. I bought some of their plastics a while back which were 50% off. They were supposed to be 8 in a bag and there was only 5. Even the sticker on the bag said 8ct. From the looks and actions of BPS Johnny Morris has only 1 concern and that's max profit. Quote
Super User WRB Posted September 21, 2021 Super User Posted September 21, 2021 If you are looking for a Roboworm call and talk to Mike, he knows all the local tackle shops in your area that have what you want, no reason to make small orders from TW. Tom Quote
Tatsu Dave Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 Guess I'm with RW on this one, Been my main supplier for some time now and no complaints. Only problem was a JJ's dippin bottle showed up leaking and half empty, called and they said salvage what you can and sent me a new bottle that same day. Other than tatsu I find them price competitive and back to quick shipping. My time is way too important to me to spend time trying to save a little here and there. Quote
Captain Phil Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 Until recently, I have always relied on Bass Pro Shops for my tackle needs. Their Orlando store is about a 40 minute drive from my home. BPS has become worthless. Their tackle shelves are bare and all they stock are their own brands. I tried to buy my latest Shimano reel and rod from them. The counter man couldn't give me a delivery date. They did have racks of shirts and hats in stock. I now buy all my lures and baits at a small local tackle shop. Between them and Tackle Warehouse, I have no use for BPS. 1 Quote

They send a friggin' pre-paid return label with your package. No having to call someone...or having to go to the website to print off a label, etc. And most/lots of places you have to pay to ship your returns back. Only thing that sucks is now TW charges sales tax. They never did up til a few years ago. Many other sites still don't charge sales tax. 1 Quote

I am on a budget so getting the most for my money is key. Doesn’t take all that long to find the deals and the latest sale thread here helps a lot. I don’t overdue it’s though as I have a handful of shops I trust so I go with those only. Quote

This was pre COVID, even when everything was in stock. I never quite understood this. If it’s in stock, ship it. Don’t ship it in 5 days. Well, when COVID started, it just simply got worse. I like their selection but that’s about it. There are generally plenty of retailers near me that have what I am looking for now in person. My new go-to is Omnia Fishing. 1 Quote
padon Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 i still buy alot from tackle warehouse. the thing is i can usually get evrything i want in 1 order and be done with it. as long as its in stock but that is a problem everywhere. if i only need a few things i get them from susquehanna fishing tackle. they have a pretty good selection and deliver to me in 1 day. plus i like to support the local guys. Super User FishTank Posted September 22, 2021 Super User Posted September 22, 2021 I haven't ordered from TW in a while. I have found other outlets closer to me that can get things to me faster. TW is not at fault. They are just that packed with orders, which is great but I tend to need things quicker than they can get it to me. I just hope in the future they will grow in a way that can get things out quicker. On a side note, I have talked to people I partner with at FedX, UPS, USPS, Target, Amazon and even Customs for EMS, LTL deliveries, and DHL stuff and they all say the same thing...... Businesses are finding ways around shortages by limiting the amount of over all sku's that they ship or carry on hand. This allows for more of the main items they sell to be available and it frees up more trucks for shipments (supposedly). For a weird example, Target by me only carries 2 types of my daughter's favorite Cold Brew, when they use to carry a bunch of brands and flavors. Quote
Mat_ski Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 Hard to beat TW. Free tshirt with orders over $125, so many products to select from and 10% military/veteran discount. I have nothing to complain about. Except for the few items TW does not carry (and probably never will) all my shopping is done with them. Their shipping is back to normal. Quote
Super User Darth-Baiter Posted September 22, 2021 Author Super User Posted September 22, 2021 I worried about nothing. I ordered my crankbaits. I just got shipping notice - they are sending me ONE CRANKBAIT in a box. Haha. so much for maximizing my shipping efficiency. 1 Quote
Super User PhishLI Posted September 22, 2021 Super User Posted September 22, 2021 During their LD sale last week I ordered just enough stuff to make the free ground shipping of $50. I needed absolutely none of it, so I didn't care much that it took them a week to ship even though the items were all in stock. Had I ordered an in-stock rod I would've ponied up for fast shipping.
