Best is different for everyone and at that different for every situation. For general purpose a 6'6 to 7'0 Medium power, fast action spinning rod.

The best all around spinning rod for general use in bass fishing is a M/F in whatever length is suitable for you. The best all around casting rod for general use in bass fishing is a MH/F. Bass fishing is like golfing. Just as there is no one club for every situation in golf, there is no one rod for every situation in bass fishing.

There is a Zen Koan - where a guy decides that he has to purchase some pottery as a wedding gift.  Because the wedding involves prominent people, he decides it must be a most beautiful pottery piece.   So he goes into the city, finds a fine quality pottery shop and informs the manager of the shop,  "I'd like to purchase some of your finest pottery."  The shop manager waves to the pottery on his right,  then waves to the pottery on his left and says, "Take your pick, they are all the best."

Choosing the "best" fishing rod is something like that.

I've never used that rod, but I haven't heard any bad things about it. 7' M/F is as versatile and general purpose you can get out of a spinning rod for bass fishing. You're going to be limited to finesse techniques and downsized power techniques. That's a good place to start.

That reel would go on a sub 7' ML rod for me. 1000 size is small.

The best bass fishing rod is the one you have the most confidence in.

Thats perfect as a general purpose spinning rod. Wacky rigs, weightless plastics, small swimbaits, tubes and jig worms.

So the medium is the power and action is fast right? Just to make sure.

I know this is a dumb mistake but most of my rods are labeled to be less confusing.

The best bass rod is the one you are fishing with, i.e., the one that you can afford.

It's all relative...think of cars...my Accord is a great car for me. Price was right, knocks down 30 MPG all day long, maintenance is easy and inexpensive (I can do it myself), and it gets me to and from work each and every day. A Mercedes, Audi, even Acura could do the same...and cost much more...might not be any better MPG...likely worse. And maintenance costs will be higher.

Get what the rod that fits your budget, and fish the heck out of it!

Note: I'm still fishing the Cabela's branded rods I picked up in the 1990's. I'm sure there are lighter, more sensitive rods out there...but my old Cabela's rods work for me.

I think we all are guilty of thinking we have to have this name brand rod, this power, this action, etc...  When in reality many of us growing up had one 5' fiberglass rod with a Zebco 303 on it and caught many fish.

Or in my case one 5' steel casting rod and an old round Shakespeare reel filled with braided Dacron.

The Zebco 33 wasn't introduced until 1954 and I never got into spincast reels.

Also, I have a small damage on my reel rim but I should be fine right?

This will be my final question.

I'd go with a MH 7'. Spinning rods tend to be a little lower power than BC rods of the same rating. At least it seems that way to me. There are things you can do better with each. But the MH covers more ground, IMO. Truthfully, I have both and use the M more. I use the MH when I want more than 1 single hook bait option. Like flukes.

Your 1000 size spinning reel is good combo with the Colt rod you choose. My Suggestion is spool it with 5 lb Maxima Ultra Green Copolymer line.
