Favorite slider style jighead...

Been researching slider fishing alot lately. Never done it but may give it a try. Anyway looking on TW I see several different Charlie Brewer head options, the owner ultra head bullet rig and I'm sure there are others. What is your preferred head for slider fishing?

I've always had a soft spot for the Spider Sliders with the bronze hook.   A light to medium light rod with 6 pound test is always a good time.

   I used to use the weedless crappie heads, 1/16 oz. in black. They worked well with a variety of small plastics.  I had thought to use the double-lite heads, mostly to straighten out on snags, but thought better of it.                   jj

Original Spider Slider with bronze hook (2/0?) is probably the most popular - it’s the one I use the most. They also make it in a ‘pro’ version or some such wording with a heavier wire round bend hook - not bad. Next favorite if you’re using small thin worms is the weedless crappie slider head - looks similar, but you can get colored heads.

I use nearly any plastic I own on slider heads. Senkos, grubs, crawfish baits, anything.

It's not a worm, but a 6" Zoom Lizard is a perfect match for the 1/16oz-3/0 Pro Head.  It floats to the bottom slowly in a slight head-down position with just enough speed to get the limbs/tail moving.  For wind or current I switch to the 1/8oz version.

Anything that produces consistent hook-ups. Unfortunately, this was a matter of trial and error. For me, it was more error than trial, which is why I eventually ended up using very large unweighted hooks rather than small weighted hooks.      jj

I like smashing down the sides of a snagless jig head with a pair of pliers until it looks like wings on either side of the hook shaft.  The action on the fall is rarely the same and there is plenty of action. I do the same thing to the original to give it more of a gliding action. Either way, that extra slow fall rate is sometimes exactly what the Dr. ordered. I've used some big worms with the Pro Snagless.

I like the Spider Pro with the black nickel hook. My favorite bait on them is a Crock O Gator Ring Craw.

I have only used the Owner heads in 1/16 and 1/8 and have good results. Recently picked up some slider pro and the BPS brand. Haven’t tried either yet so no real review yet. I did notice the BPS have a pretty light wire hook as opposed to the Owner. Mostly throwing ribbon tail worms on these so far.
 Also grabbed a pack of the Zman version. They have a shorter hook shank so I’m thinking they will work well with more finesse sized baits.

OIn the early 80’s the original Slider jig/worm was popular out west. I tried it and the hook was less the adequate bronze Mustad that wouldn’t stay sharp.

A jig is only a good as it’s hook, dull hooks = missed bass strikes.

Owner came out their Sled Head in the early 90’s, not a slider but a bullet shape with curved bottom that worked good for finesse sliding a jig/worm. Owner Stand up head is a good Slider jig. This was followed by Owners Ultra heads including a bullet head. Good hooks but not the original Slider flat bottom design that glides better.
