Pasquale.angler Posted September 19, 2021 Posted September 19, 2021 Good morning guys. My name is Pasquale and I am an Italian bass angler. I thought about registering on an American forum since surely you can give me some info on American rods. In particular I would like to understand the differences between the conquest mbr and the new nrx +; if the latter are more successful than the conquest or not. I state that I already own a conquest 903c (which I consider to be one of the best rods) and I would like to take another conquest rod, but seeing the new nrx + I didn't understand if they were born to replace the conquest or not. Thank you very much for the attention and availability. Best regards. Quote
Super User ATA Posted September 19, 2021 Super User Posted September 19, 2021 Conquest Key Futures: 15% to 20% less material than traditional rod construction Increased torsional stability offers 20% less twist than traditional rod construction Reduced blank ovalization Fuji Torzite guides SIC Titanium tip G. Loomis custom ‘skeleton’ reel seat Designed & handcrafted in Woodland, Washington – Blanks rolled in Kumamoto, Japan NRX+ Key Futures: Spiral X graphite construction Multi-Taper Design reinforces potential stress points within the blank while reducing unnecessary graphite material Fuji Titanium SIC stripper guides Ultra-lite, ultra-strong RECOIL guides Custom CI4+ reel seat Handcrafted in Woodland, Washington -Remember Conquest is Lighter than NRX+ And here the Guides info that I think it can be important. Alconite is lighter than Sic, however not as hard. Torzite is not harder than SiC however is more resistant to impact and does not compress which makes it tougher. A SiC guide offers better abrasion resistance than Alconite, however is less abrasion resistant than Torzite. Anyways if you ask me, I still happy with my conquests and I think they are still the best. Quote
Pasquale.angler Posted September 19, 2021 Author Posted September 19, 2021 Thank you so much for your answer. Yes, I was aware of the construction features of Conquest and nrx +; but I thought that the new nrx + had come out and then replaced the conquest as well. Because maybe the latter have not had a great deal of fishermen (at least here in Italy almost no one owns them). Personally I use graphiteleader vigore '20 rods and evergreen (both orion and kaleido inspirare). But I consider the conquest to be on the same level as these rods. I also prefer the more allround and longer rods, so also in this case the conquest mbr is the master. I hope I was clear, because i don't speak english very weel. Thank you so much. Best regards. Super User ATA Posted September 19, 2021 Super User Posted September 19, 2021 I have Two 842/903/844/905, I love each of them, I use high end rods always and since I bought my first conquest, I cant think of anything else. I know NRX from before, They couldn't commit with conquest at all and you knew that specially when you set the hook on flipping or jigging, But now this NRX+ going neck to neck with conquest but with a very noticible price jump. I would never personally go for NRX Unless if they make M action which make good crank bait rod. But this NRX+ line is same as conquest, Even they dont have 905 in line up which is messed up. Quote
Pasquale.angler Posted September 19, 2021 Author Posted September 19, 2021 Thank you so much for the advice. I really believe that I will favor the purchase of the 843c, since I am looking for an allround rod for medium-light applications. Unfortunately, the 842c here in Italy is difficult to find, if not made to order. Looks perfect as a jerk, neko and wacky rig rod. If you have FB or IG we can exchange a more direct contact. It is always a pleasure to deal with American bass anglers. Best regards. Quote
Dumbbassanglr Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 I have conquest and nrx+. The only reason to buy nrx+ over the conquest is if you need an extra-fast action or a specific length that doesn’t come in conquest. Quote
Pasquale.angler Posted September 21, 2021 Author Posted September 21, 2021 As mentioned, I thought that the new nrx + were released to replace the conquest, so I asked for information about it ... Anyway, no, I am happy with the canonical lengths of 7 'and 7'6 ". Regarding the 843c, I would like to know if in your opinion (as 1 / 4-3 / 4oz power), it is good for the back sliding technique with 1/2 oz lures (es: dynagone neo ik) primed texas, with 14lb fluoro. Thanks you very much. Best regards. Quote
Dumbbassanglr Posted April 11, 2022 Posted April 11, 2022 No, the nrx+ does not replace the conquest. Conquest is lighter and has high power x and spiral x tech. Nrx+ only has spiral x. I don't know what back sliding is but if you are going with 1/2 and lighter the 843 is ok but if you need 1/2 and heavier then 844 would be better. Quote
Rodney Smith Posted July 10, 2022 Posted July 10, 2022 Does anyone have experience with the NRX+ 903c? I’m considering getting one as my all purpose rod. I got 904c for that, but even with the MBR taper, it is a smidge too stout. Quote

I got 904c for that, but even with the MBR taper, it is a smidge too stout. Had one, sold it. I didn’t like the taper on it coming from Megabass, specifically the Destroyer Javelin. Weight was good, sensitive blank and guides, awful fit and finish. Pretty standard for Loomis, but overall it wasn’t as limber as I wanted for reaction baits. I own a 893, and 873 in the + lines and the taper on the 903 wasn’t different enough from the 893 to justify keeping it. It never felt great throwing spinnerbaits, bladed jigs, or squarebills. Which I’d consider in its wheelhouse based on weight and line ratings. Was great as a Texas rig and jig rod, but I have two od those and they are better at it. Perhaps the 843 would be softer, which would lead to a more versatile stick? I can’t give any advice on it though. Personally in that ballpark you’ve got rods which perform the “do everything” job a bit better. Legend Elite/X/Xtreme 7’1” MHXF from St. Croix, Steez AGS 7’3” MH, and Megabass Destroyer X-Bites or Dark Sleeper depending on more of a moving bait vs. bottom contact focus. Quote
