Pogues2300 Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 Looking for owners of this rod to give opinions on what lures they like fishing with it. Depth ranges and where you feel the "sweet spot" is would be awesome. Thank you. Quote
Pogues2300 Posted October 8, 2021 Author Posted October 8, 2021 Guess it's not very popular lol. Quote
Super User NorthernBasser Posted October 9, 2021 Super User Posted October 9, 2021 I don't own it but I have used a friend's. Great squarebill rod. As well as medium-diving cranks and lipless. Quote
Pogues2300 Posted October 9, 2021 Author Posted October 9, 2021 Thanks. Trying to see kinda where it tops out on depth. Will it be overpowered by a rapala dt 16 for example. Appreciate the response. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted October 9, 2021 Super User Posted October 9, 2021 I have the 903 and have thrown a DT16 with it. Although not ideal, it worked. I would say the 845 would be fine with it. Just my two cents, I am a big Loomis fan and my 903C IMX Pro CBR is a great rod but I like the Legend Glass from St. Croix for deeper crankbaits better. Quote
Pogues2300 Posted October 9, 2021 Author Posted October 9, 2021 Thanks, would be throwing dt 10 much more frequently. All the waters I fish have a good amount of vegetation so I theorize graphite might be better for me to rip it out. certainly could be thinking about this incorrectly though. Quote

It's a medium power mod fast. I took it to Mexico & tried it with 3/4 oz lipless cranks & boy was it heavenly. Cast them a mile & never lost me a fish using mono. It also handles all my crank baits deep divers up to & including Strike King XD10's which is probably the hardest pulling crank ever fished by anyone. This rod not only handles swimbaits up to its lure rating but is very versatile for all cranks 1/2 oz & up. Quote

Thanks for the info though. Quote
Pogues2300 Posted October 26, 2021 Author Posted October 26, 2021 Just to follow up, I've owned and fished this rod a few weeks now. It's the action I was hoping it would be. I really like this rod. Water is getting pretty cold here so I have been throwing the tactical dd a bunch and it casts well and the fish are staying pinned. Thanks for the input. 1 Quote
