REALLY liking it so far. I've had it out a few times now, and have absolutely nothing negative to say. I would prefer a mag brake, but the ACB works well with lots of adjustment settings. Almost 2oz lighter than the Super Duty with more drag power. 20lb max. It's also the smoothest Lew's I own. It's every bit as smooth as my Curado BFS. Spooled with 40# 832, it holds plenty of line for casting. I've only pitched a 3/8 T rig so far, but it'll pitch that 60' easy with the flick of the wrist. I think Lew's really got it right with this reel, especially for braid. No need for backing. I think I'll be replacing my Super Duties with SP's as they wear out. So...... Anybody know how to wear out a SD? Mine just keep going and going like Energizer Bunnies. ?

When I broke off an over-slot redfish on my SP one day, switched to 1/8 oz on my Super Duty.

Discovered the SD mag cast 1/8 oz farther than the SP.

Sent me to trials with the SP centrifugal, and I could lower it to backlash, but could never cast the 1/8 oz as far as Super Duty.

I sold my SP and bought another Super Duty (on sale).

Though I set up a Daiwa Zillion in my ML niche.

Even in the salt, my 1st SD is going after 4 years.  I did begin rust on the magnets, so I swapped the magnets.

I better add, I understand your affection for the Lew's SP - it's a great reel.

The spool has low inertia, you can race it out with better bearings.

It just probably better fits with centrifugal and heavier weights for it's designed pitching niche than where I wanted to use it.  Again, my problem was the centrifugal with light weights.

My 1st SD is also 4yrs old. I have three and they are my most used casting reels. Never an issue with any of them and the oldest is still running smoothly. I don't see them wearing out anytime soon. Still in the honeymoon phase with the SP, but I'm dig'n it.

Do you think the mag braking is the reason for the SD's extra casting distance? How much difference was there?
