So I have a TON of these 3 inch ultra realistic minnows for bass a friend gave me, when do you guys choose these baitfish over other baits? the only ways I thought they would be good is perhaps on a DS or on a jighead/weightless. Do you guys fish small lifelike 3-4 inch flukes on jigheads? how do they work?

Drop shots are what I primarily do with those.  Sometimes, if the bite it tough, I'll go weightless and fish them like a jerkbait.  Or if I need to go deeper, use a weighted hook or jig head.  I prefer the weighted hook over the jig head because I can rig it weedless, and it seems to have better action.  But the jig head also allows for it to dive, head first towards the bottom, like a feeding minnow or something.  Sometimes I'll also fish them like a worm on a T-rig or on a mushroom head jig like a ned rig.  You can even use one as a trailer for a jig or spinnerbait.  They're extremely versatile.

I tend to reach for them more often in smaller ponds or times when the bite is really tough.

Drop Shot

Split Shot (nose hook them)

Ball head jig

Wacky jig

These are a few ways I fished baits like that.

Dropshot would be my #1 choice but I do fish it weightless double fluke style (donkey rig) as well. It is really good bait for fall transition to winter when primary bait fish is Shad. I only  use 2.5-3” on jig head under float when target crappie as well as bass.

I will have to try these methods out! they could be pretty good on a split shot rig!

The 4 inchers are the perfect size for the double fluke rig.

been hearing good things about the double fluke rig, may have to try it!

Also, flukes can be fished as a jerkbait, very effective.

I use them on a light finesse combo with 8 pound test and a 1/0 hook T rigged weightless. Caught a 6 1/2 pounder on one .
