How many "Average Joe" bass anglers do you think are out there who could dominate the pros?

I'm not literally asking for an estimated number, but rather seeking a discussion about guys out there that have all the talent in the world and then some, who could destroy pro tournaments. Do you know any? Heard of any? Are you one?

Disclaimer: the only thing I could do in the pros is offer advice on food

I think there are plenty on here.  I'd give it a go with anyone so long as we only had Frog rods in our hands.  I might get my butt handed to me but I'd give it a shot

Very few weekend bass anglers can catch bass consistently when their livelihood to win prize money is on the line.

I am going with Very Few.

And I will also note that very few pros 'dominate' very often and or for very long.  While it has and still does happen, my feeling is that there's a decent chance the average Joe may underestimate what it takes and how tough it is.

I enjoy being a spectator.

Pro Randy Blaukat (sp?) says that these days it's a rich man's game and not necessarily a skilled man's game. Back when he joined people could afford the gear, travel, and entry. Now he says it's about being independently wealthy and family money. Makes me wonder. I personally could never believe the best in the world are only the guys being paid to do it.

Yeah I'm not a fan and think he's a giant cry baby and complainer, but these comments made me wonder. I mean there is merit to the fact that even if I was good enough personally, and I'm not, that I could never afford to even try.

I approach these conversations the same way I did when I was a bowler...and when I was a golfer.  It is one thing to dominate consistently on your home course, lake, lanes....quite a different thing to dominate at different venue every tournament.

One of my fishing mentors talked about this with me. From the stories he’s told me about fishing with some of the pros and how much I respect him as an angler, I don’t doubt for a second that the guys and gals who do this for a living are extremely skilled, more so than I can probably grasp

there's a couple that could. It's more than just about ability. Passion, drive, willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done, and a whole lot more........oh yeah don't forget sacrificing time away from family and friends for god knows how long, fishing in all types of weather, rain,cold,heet,wind.......I could go on but we all know what goes on behind the scenes of tournament fishing. it's not an easy life.but I could use some advice on some good food !!!!!!!!

heat.....

not heet....

I believe professionals are the elite at any sport. There has to be a driving force and a considerable level of success to be considered a professional.

There are many accomplished fisherman here that on a given day are lights out.

Pro's dedicate their lives and have a natural gift of awareness.

Are there any Tom Bradys here?

Husain Bolts?

Dale Earnhardt's?

Tiger woods?

Not a person in the world going sponsor me to fish......not for long anyway.

I could do it. I'm sure I could keep up with the bottom five in any tournament. LOL

Any decent bass fisherman can do well with the best electronics and spoon fed knowledge from the locals but not everyone can do consistently well on new bodies of water by themselves.

Many do not care for tournament fishing since they rather fish for fun.

Dominate is a strong word.

Not many at all, I would think if they could they would.

Now If the question was if an “average Joe” able to compete with the best, that’s different.

I know a lot of those and a few I’d put money on who frequently sign in here.

I go with the not manys. In any professional sport, only a tiny number of people are capable of competing against the tiny number of the best in the sport. People take classes for pianos, violins and clarinets, but everyone knows that only a tiny number will ever be good enough to play in a major orchestra. Some people might do it for a living, but it’s not like a job or trade.

The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak!

The knowledge is there but physical effects of tournament fishing would do me in.

My opinion: No one out there can dominate over the pros. Compete with them?  Yes. Even beat a few once in a while. But the pros are going to win most of the time over any average Joe. There are several guys on this forum that are much better than the average Joe.
