Thought I'd share this funny little story with you fine folks, nothing to do with fish.

I check various resources weekly for pellets for my Airguns, yes there's even a pellet shortage.

My preferred pellet shows up on Amazon so I instantly submit an order.

Well, they show up today and to my surprise the order got doubled up somehow as I received twice what I originally ordered but was not charged.

So I call customer service and let them know of their error.

The very nice lady laughed and asked what I wanted her to do.

I said well, I don't want to steal and to charge my account for extra tins of pellets.

She laughed again and said it's no longer stealing as I'm gifting them to you.

Amazon is good with that stuff.  I placed an order for an adapter plate for the back of my kayak.  It came to me perfectly fine but was missing some bolts.  I let them know and said I just need the hardware and everything else was fine.  They said we can send you another one or refund you the purchase price.  I asked about shipping the other one back and they said nah you keep it and give it to someone else.  So I took the refund, went to Lowes and got the hardware I needed and called it a day.

I am all about calling out things like that because nobody is perfect and as long as they are willing to work with me on fixing it in a timely manner, I am good.

My wife is so honest....she once bought a b'day cake at the local Walmart.  She gets to the register and, you guessed it, no price on it.  The lady said just go on an take it.  So she gets out to the car and is racked with guild.  She carries the cake back in to the bakery and explains what happened.  There, they slap a tag on it and she goes back to the front an pay.

Another time, while checking out of a cosmetic store, she finds one of those money envelopes that the bank gives you when you make a withdrawal.  It had almost $1k in hundred dollar bills.  She could have kept it but, instead, she turned it over to the store staff to hold in case whoever lost it came looking.  My kids were looking at her like she'd just escaped from the looney bin but, it was the right thing to do.

I was never much of a thief . When I was 4 years old , my mom and me were at the grocery store. There was a giant bin of peanuts, and little bags to put them in and the weight determined the cost.

I grabbed a handful and put in my pocket. I figured it was ok because I’d seen Andy Griffith take an apple and start eating it without paying for it, and other shows had people not paying for stuff.

So I was happily munching on a peanut and mom said ” WHERE DID YOU GET THAT ? I said “ out of the peanut bin”

She drug me to it, and made me dump the rest of them. And slapped my hand. HARD. Then I had to apologize to the cashier, then the store owner. I’m pretty sure I got a whooping when I got home. My excuse about Andy Griffith didnt work.

I decided not to persue a life of crime.

Ive seen my mon go back in a store even if it was a few pennies in her favor. Im very thankful she was like that…

If you expect you could call if you’d received half and they’d make good…only right to do your part when you got double.

Unfortunate that people get so surprised.

Good for you.

Gunsinger, your wife probably just made whoever she turned that money into very happy.   I'm fairly sure they probably were not so honest.  When we find something of value, we let it be known we found it, if money, we just say some money, if a ring or something, we just say a piece of jewelry, and just leave our contact information.  If some gets in touch with us and can accurately describe it, we give it back to them.  My wife found a very nice diamond ring in a dressing room at Dillard's and told a girl in the office and gave her contact info.   The next day, that girl in the office tried to claim the ring, but could not properly describe it.  I called Dillard's to see if anyone had come in looking for a lost ring.  An elderly lady had and gave a partial description of it, and the girl was trying to use that to claim the ring.   I informed the manager, he put the real owner in touch with me and that girl got fired.  Oh, and the owner gave my wife a $1,000 reward.  It turned out to be a family heirloom from her grandmother worth thousands.  She had just passed it on to her granddaughter that day, who was wearing it.

For every honest person , there are likely a dozen thieves......I'll stick to my roots, honesty.

Great post by the way.
