Super User Bankc Posted September 15, 2021 Super User Posted September 15, 2021 Definitely Photoshopped. If you look closely, you can see where the real fins end and digitally drawn fins begin. It's especially evident how the color abruptly changes (though a subtle change) on a hard line on the anal fin. And you can notice the shadows under and on the new fins aren't in agreement with the rest of the shadows. Plus, where the dorsal fin was removed, it's a pretty rough cut job. And, if you look closely, you'll notice several areas that are smudged, right next to areas that are clear. That won't happen with an unedited photograph. Lots of clues here and all pointing to a rough photoshop job. 2 Quote
Smokinal Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 I'm tellin ya, a betta fertilized some eggs there. Wait....wouldn't that make him alpha?? ? 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted September 16, 2021 Super User Posted September 16, 2021 I guess the long fins were the delta. Quote

RealtreeByGod Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 It looks shopped. I can tell from the pixels and having seen quite a few pixels in my time Quote
schplurg Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 I am going with Photoshopped. I have used Photoshop for decades and have done a lot of fake photos. I see clear indications - the sharp line at the top edge of the tail, the same near the missing dorsal, and I can see cutting was done near the bottom fins. Hard to say for certain with such a low quality copy though but I'd say it's 95% chance it's fake. However, I see a photo on Google of a carp with very similar fins, so it does happen. Big Hands Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 There are a lot of artifacts and inconsistencies in this image when blown up in Photoshop that lead me to believe it could very well have been manipulated. If so, it's certainly not the worst hack job I have seen, but there are some things about it that just don't make sense unless it was manipulated. The part that is baffling to me is why someone would go to that much trouble to manipulate an image that way and then attempt to pass it off as real. Of course, I could be wrong, but it don't look right to me. I wonder if there are more than one shot of it available. Quote

CrankFate Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 I heard that random mutation is more true to science than the theory of evolution. Either that or the real reason they don’t want people releasing their fantail goldfish into the water is invasive hybridization. Quote
