I have a new Boga grip that I want to attach to my belt or a belt loop so I won’t lose it. I am using a piece of rope now, but would like something slimmer and not so clunky looking. Maybe some kind of a lanyard, I don’t know. I would appreciate any recommendations.

Just attach the jaws thru your belt loop & let it hang.

That toy isn't exactly light.  It is more or less a precision instrument.  However you decide to attach it to your belt/pants it is going to become a pain pretty quick, banging against your leg as you walk around.  And you're going to smack it against stuff - is that any way to treat a precision instrument?  Just keep it close by in the boat or if you/re bank bound, keep it in your tackle bag.  I'd consider a padded case for it.    You spent alot of money for that thing, you're not likely to forget where it is.   Anyway, do you catch so many weighable fish that you have to have it hanging from your belt, instantly available as you check the weight of each and every fish you catch?

I keep the Boga in my pocket now, but I'm looking for a good way to secure it to my belt or belt loop so I don't  drop it in the water or leave it someplace when it is in use or out of my pocket.

I seldom use it as a scale--only in the few times I might catch a really big one. But I do use it to clip to the lip of just about every fish I catch to facilitate safe hook removal.

I have been hooking it to my belt loop on my hip for years. It has never came unhooked and is not uncomfortable.

I’m not doing a very good job of explaining this. I keep the grip in my pocket instead of hooking it to my belt or belt loop, but I also want to tie it to myself so that if I’m using it and accidentally drop it in the water it won’t be lost. Also since I’m old and forgetful I’d like it attached to me so that after the excitement of landing the fish I don’t set it down leave it somewhere.

Then you want a leash

Maybe try attaching a float to them? I have used the large foam bobbers on my pliers instead of a lanyard with good success. Simply break off the plastic line attachments and hog out the hole to fit 550 cord, loop through grip handle and tie a square knot. I use the big orange or yellow floats so I can easily find them if I leave them on the bank.

Very interesting! I think this might work. The piece of rope I'm using now is 30" long and it is plenty long enough. The lanyard carried by Amazon is 16.5" and stretches to 63". I wonder if this would be too long? I guess not because the excess length would be taken up by the coils. What do you think?

I keep mine in a gear pocket under my leaning post cushion.  I make sure I put the lanyard around my wrist when I pull it out of the pocket to use it.  It stays on the boat.

If I was using it on foot, I think the first thing I'd try is the coiled lanyard, with a big enough clip (added to it, if necessary) so that it can quickly/easily be removed with one hand if desired.  My buddy used a big float on his for kayak fishing.

The Boga Grip is a very nice tool, and too expensive to lose!

Ropes and paracord are no good, they just get in the way and tangle in everything coil lanyards are the way to go.

If your clipping it to a bag, order a good lanyard and clip it on the boga lanyard.  Then attach a carbiner or ring to your bag and use the jaws of the boga to clip it to the ring/carabineer. Its much easier to get to it and detach it with one hand that instead of fumbling with a carabineer that's attached to boga lanyard.

Without a bag you really have 3 options.

1) you just attach a coil lanyard to the boga lanyard and keep the boga in your back pocket.

2)you just clip the jaws to a belt loop which works but its still going to bounce around.  Your not going to hurt the boga but its not comfortable.

3)just get a boga holster, aqua skins makes one that isnt bad.

Be very careful how and where you attach things to yourself with something as strong as paracord.

You've got a point there. I never thought of it like that, but Murphy's law ........          jj
